MYCOTIC POISONING AND MYCOTOXINS

Mycotic poisoning is a substance that is poisonous for human beings. These substances are poisonous however they can harm human health.

The fungus that is harmful to human beings and has toxic substances in it is mycelium. Mycotoxins are poisonous substances that grow in nature and are produced by the fungi found in food items. Mycotoxins are harmful to human beings and other living beings as they cause adverse effects on their health. The considered toxins are of two types one is good for health and the other is not good for health. The substances that are not good for our health adversely affect human health. The negative impact of mycotoxins on human health is it affects the tissue of the liver, kidney, brain, reproductive organs, etc. Through this substance, various types of cancer, a decrease of the immune system of the human are also the negative impact of the mycotoxin substance.

What is mycotic poisoning?

Mycotic poisoning, the poisoning substance that affects the growth and development of human beings, also can do adverse negative impact on human health. There are two types of mycotic poisoning one is mycetismus and another one is mycotoxicosis. Mycetismus is one of the mycotic poisons that affect human health by the ingestion of the poisonous mushroom. Mycotoxicosis is also a type of mycotic poisoning that affects human health by the ingestion of the toxic substance of the fungi. The symptoms of the mycetismus that are seen in human beings are gastrointestinal disease, mycetismus nervous, and cerebral. The symptoms that are related to mycotoxicosis are zearalenone, rubratoxin, aflatoxin, and ergotamine.

What are mycotoxins?

Mycotoxin is a metabolite that is formed from fungi and causes a high impact on human health. Humans are affected by the contamination of food and many times the human being doesn’t wash the food just because they consumed it. Food is an important source for the microorganisms to grow themselves easily and enter human beings and affect human beings easily. Humans can easily know the effect of mycotoxin by finding the following mechanism in themselves such as food poisoning, pain in the abdominal, migraine, or feeling depressed. The foods that include the presence of mycotoxins are grain, dry fruits, coffee beans, alcoholic beverages, nuts, etc.

What does mycotoxin look like?

Mycotoxins are microorganisms that can be seen from the naked eye and need to have a microscope however to watch it. The size of the mycotoxin is less than the .1 micron that can only be seen through a microscope. The micro size makes the microbes easily enter into the food items and hence affects human health. Mycotoxins are bad for human beings as they affect growth and development. It affects the internal system such as the digestive system, respiratory system and decreases the immunity of the living beings.

Conclusion

Food microbiology describes that the microorganisms in food need to first collaborate then they contaminate and at last they spoil the food. The microorganisms have two impacts on the food industry: first, they spoil the food which hurts human health. The other one is good for human health as it doesn’t affect human health. Mycotic poisoning is a poisonous substance that affects human health and causes a high impact on the growth of human development. Two types of mycotic poisoning are mycetism and the other one is mycotoxicosis. Mycetismus is a type of mycotic poisoning that is present in the poisonous mushroom. Mycotoxicosis is the mycotic poisoning that is present from the fungus; these fungi are present in the food. Mycotoxin hurts human health as it causes rashes, chronic fatigue, Parkinson and cancer-related diseases. The foods that are high on mycotoxins are alcoholic beverages, coffee beans, nuts, dry fruits, etc. Mycotoxin stays in the living body for half to one year. The difference between aflatoxin and mycotoxin is that the aflatoxin is a primary metabolite however mycotoxin is the secondary metabolite.
