Discussion

What is a Probiotic?

Probiotics are the combination of the good bacteria that naturally live in our bodies. There are two kinds of bacteria one is good bacteria and the other is bad bacteria. The bad bacteria caused various infections like dysentery, cold and cough, fever, and so on. Good bacteria’s help in different functionalities of the body which enables good functioning of the body. Probiotics are composed of good bacteria that keep our body healthy and help to work well. Good bacteria’s support the human body in various ways such as fighting with bad bacteria when the number of bad bacteria increases in the body. The probiotic bacteria largely live in the stomach and large intestine of the human body. The most common probiotic bacteria are “Lactobacillus” and “Bifidobacterium”. Fermented foods like curd, pickles, and so on are the source of probiotic batteries. The dietary supplements of probiotics are also available now in the market to improve the health of the human body.

Difference between probiotics and prebiotics

Probiotics and prebiotics both are important for human health. Probiotics are the live bacteria that help the human for digestion and absorption of food in the body whereas prebiotics is the type of curbs and fibres mostly that is indigestible by the human body but the probiotic bacteria eat these and increase their number in the human body. The different probiotics available in the market are mixed with different prebiotics also to provide better support in the body. Probiotics help the digestion of protein and carbs and fats in the human body whereas prebiotics acts like a booster in digestion by the probiotics. The probiotics are non-toxic and capable of living in the human stomach but prebiotics are neither being absorbed nor hydrolyzed in the stomach of the human body. Probiotics provide various advantages in our health like improvement in digestion, making our body anti-cancerous, improving lactose intolerance, and other important nutritional benefits. On the other hand, prebiotics are able to alter the colonic flora of microbes towards a healthier body composition.

Different Probiotic Products

The best way to get probiotics is from fermented food, different food items have different compositions of the bacterial strains that help to improve health. Yoghurt is known as one of the best sources of probiotic bacteria. Yoghurt is made up of milk that is fermented by the lactic acid bacteria and bifidobacteria. Yoghurt is beneficial for lactose intolerant people because these bacteria convert the lactose of the milk into a simple lactic acid form. Pickles are also a good source of probiotic bacteria. It is made from cucumber that is preserved in salt and water solution. There are many different probiotics dietary supplements like Carbamide Forty, Yakult, and so on are probiotic supplements that help us to keep healthy.

Probiotics for stomach

It is seen that probiotics help in the digestive system of the human body. The probiotics mainly help in digesting food by converting the food particles in a simpler form that improves the digestion and the food absorption in the body. Probiotics are helpful for those who suffer from different digestive issues. People who have constipation issues have a different ecosystem in their stomach and small intestine. The probiotics increase the rate of digestion that helps those people to digest their foods properly and help them to get cured of constipation. The probiotics help to reduce the pH level in the colon that helps to move the stool faster through it. Probiotics help in the absorption of protein in our stomach and small intestine.
