The input device is computer equipment and the device helps to send the information and data into the computer. Moreover, the output device is referred to as hardware equipment of the processing system. The input devices are used to put raw data into the computer to process the collected data. Some examples of input devices are touchpad, mouse, joystick, keyboard, and many more. Moreover, the output device helps to provide data and information in different forms. It also includes audio-visual and some media of hard copy. Some examples of output devices are monitors, printers, projectors, and many more. This study describes the function and characteristics of IO devices.

What is the input device and output device of a computer?

In the processing system, the output device is known as a piece of hardware or equipment, and it is used for providing more relevant data and relevant information for processing. Moreover, this device also helps to control the signals of a processing system. The input device is also categorized as the modality of input, input as discrete, digitized in the discrete quantity. However, the input device also allows the freedom of continuous degrees as input. Keyboard, mouse. And the touchpad is the most important input device of the processing system.

On the other hand, the output device is referred to as hardware equipment of the processing system, and it can help to convert the important information and data to another device and send the data from the computer to another device. It also includes graphics, audio, video, and tactile. The printer, speaker, monitor, and optical mark readers are the most important part of the output device.

Evaluate the function of an input device of a computer

The input device is an electronic and hardware device and some major functions of the input device are discussed below.

  • The input device accepts the data and information from the outsider or the user of the processing system.
  • After that, the input device converts the understandable data from the raw data and transfers it into binary code. That is understandable for the processing system.
  • After converting the data it also sends the processed data and the instruction to the computer in binary form. The reason is that computers understand the data and process the information.
  • The reason is the computer can only understand the binary data and the binary format (1010). Moreover, the input devices have the responsibility for sending the binary formed data to be utilized easily.

Analyze the characteristics of input devices and output device

Characteristic of the input device are as follows

  • The input device is the main and important component of the processing system and it also helps to convert the incoming data as per the instruction.
  • The input device helps to accept the data from the user and convert the data in the pattern of the electrical signals and process the data regarding binary codes for understanding the data to the processing system.
  • The device helps to convert to machine-friendly instruction from the instruction of user-friendly and accepting the data.

Various Input Devices

The various input devices that are used on a daily basis include:

Mouse/ Touchpad: Computers have become an essential part of our lives. And using a computer is impossible without a mouse or a touchpad. They are used to select, navigate, and scroll.

Keyboard: Keyboard is yet another mandatory input device without which nothing can be done in laptops and computers.

Some of the other regularly used input devices are:

Pointing Stick, Joystick, Webcam, Microphone, Digital Pen, Barcode Reader, and Fingerprint Scanner.

Conclusion

From the above discussion, it can be concluded that input and output devices are the most important components of a processing system. Moreover, this study also concludes that the input device helps to accept the data and raw information from the user and then convert it into binary format. The reason is that computers can only understand 0 and 1. This study also concluded that the output device helps to process the data from the processor and send the information to the user. This study also concluded that input is commended by the user and output is commended by its processor.
