Percentages

The word Percentage refers to the amount or rate expressed as a part of a hundred. It is one of the most analytical forms of mathematical calculations.

According to mathematics, a percentage is a numerical or rational expression of a fraction of 100. It is obtained from the Latin word “per -centum” which indicates the meaning “by the hundred”. A percentage is a form of a number in which the value of the denominator is 100. In other words, it is the relation between a part and a whole in which the value of the whole is always 100. In this study, how to find the percentage and how to convert a number into a percentage is discussed and elaborated using the formulas of percentage. We will also discuss the different percentage converter and some FAQs regarding this topic.

Discussion

How to find a percentage?

The percentage is found out on the whole of any particular share or part in terms of hundred. It is denoted by the symbol ‘%’. The calculation of percentage is represented as:

Percentage = (share or part/ whole)*100

The above-represented formula implies that initially, the part of the number that is taken must divide by the whole and multiply by a hundred, then the result of the part and whole then need to divide by 100 to get the result of the calculation. For example, a number is assumed to be “A”. to find the percentage of A the finder needs to acknowledge the total value of that number from which part A belongs to.

Then part ‘A’ needs to divide by the total number and then the result that came from the divide operation must be multiplied by 100. After doing such an operation we will find the percentage value of the number ‘A’ regarding its whole part. There are two different methods to find the percentage of any specific number. The initial method for finding percentages is using the unitary method. The second method is to find the percentage by changing the denominator of that fraction into a hundred. The second method must not be used in those situations where the denominator is not the factor of 100.

Percentage Conversions

Conversion of the percentage depends on the two different methods. The first one is converting the fractional part of a number into a percentage and the second method is converting percentage into the fractional number. To convert a fractional number into a percentage initially the fraction of a number needs to be converted into the decimal number by using the long division method which includes dividing the numerator part by the denominator part. Then the outcome of the operation performed is multiplied by a hundred to get the desired outcome in percentage form. The result must be depicted and must be followed by the percentage symbol (%). For example: Converting 4/5 into the percentage form where 4 is divided by 5 which provides 0.8 as outcome then the outcome is multiplied by 100 and the outcome is 80%. In order to convert a percentage into a decimal the first and foremost thing is to convert a fraction into a decimal. Then the decimal observed is converted into a percentage for the final outcome. Then the converter needs to simplify the fraction into the lowest term. For example, 80% converted into decimal removing the percentage symbol (%) and dividing it by 100. Dividing 80/100 to the lowest term the outcome is 4/5.

Different percentage converter

The percentage can be converted using various types of calculators, software, and websites and by human analysis. The human brain is an effective calculator that can calculate every mathematical term in minutes. The human brain is used to calculate the critical calculation of different researches or mathematics. Scientists use their own brains to solve the different critical calculations of their arithmetic and quantitative calculations of different researches. The Abacus is a simple tool to solve quick calculations. Nowadays banks and many other organizations use different kinds of calculating devices for calculating various things. Banks use scientific calculators for maintaining their money-related documents. The different financial calculators are used in business organizations to maintain their expenses and profits. Graphic calculators are used to plot graphs to solve equations and so on by many researchers. The online calculators are used for different specific tasks like calculating BMI, converting height from centimetre to foot, and so on.

Conclusion

This study is based on the mathematical term Percentage that is used in the various fields of our daily life. In this study, a brief explanation of percentage has been discussed, which includes the origination of the percentage method of calculation and so on. A brief description of the finding percentage from a rational number also has been discussed. The conversion of percentage also has been elaborated with detail. The study also includes the different modes of percentage converters and their uses in the different places have also been analyzed. At last, some FAQs were discussed in this study regarding the term percentage.
