Stenographer (KTDC) Kerala PSC : Exam Cut off

Competitive exams, especially state competitive exams recruiting candidates for government jobs, are designed in a way that the best talents are resourced from the masses. Government jobs require special abilities of retention and recall and a high degree of capability and responsibilities. Exams based on government jobs are highly competitive for this reason and there are many parameters that aspirants have to meet to be eligible for a gazetted position in the government sector. Cut-off marks are the minimum number that a candidate is expected to secure to be eligible. Elements such as:

  • Negative marking
  • Cut off percentage
  • Extensive syllabus

These elements are applied to most sections of competitive exams, especially in Kerala PSC due to the high number of candidates that apply every year for the limited number of vacancies available for certain posts. For the post of stenographer, the vacancy is even less since the number of seats available is restricted.

Exam Cut Off Kerala PSC for Stenographer Exam

Exam cut-off for the stenographer exam can be checked by candidates by following the following methods. The stenographer shortlist will be published after candidates have successfully passed their exams and results have been announced. Shortlist had the registration number on it and those candidates selected in the shortlist will be called for an interview. After the interview is done, the Rank List will be published where the candidates can check online. The evaluation is done based on the answers given by the students on the OMR sheets. The cut-off marks prescribed by the Kerala PSC have to be secured as a minimum requirement for the candidate to be eligible for consideration. Candidates must aim to score above the cut-off marks. The cut-off marks are usually the same every year but they can change and the main website has the relevant information regarding exam cut-off marks.  The cut-off marks for the stenographer exam are the same as the rest of the exams under Kerala PSC. 40% is the cut-off mark. The slab or marks allotment determines how Kerala PSC can take on candidates as the vacancy is small. Getting a good percentage is important but it is not the only requirement. Candidates have to perform excellently in every stage of the examination.

The Purpose

The purpose of including cut-off marks in Kerala PSC exams for stenographers and other posts is to apply a filtration effect on the candidate list. In most competitive exams, cut-off marks are implemented because the vacancy is limited and the work requirement is highly specialized. Also, as the number of candidates applying for a very limited vacancy is huge, such competitive exams need to select the very best through a long and comprehensive screening process. So, the negative marking and cut-off marks act as filters during these exams. 40% is the cut-off mark, according to 2021. For 2022, it can either remain the same or change. Relevant information regarding that will be published under the notification section. Students must be vigilant of this information and regularly check updates as they are released.
