The marking scheme under the Kerala PSC for the field worker exam is discussed in the following sections. The examination of the fieldwork takes place through the OMR sheets where according to the questions given; candidates have to fill in the dotted circles. The candidates will have to fill in the corresponding dot beside the correct answer out of the multiple options that will be given to them. The medium of questions for the exam of field workers under Kerala PSC is Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. The Marking Scheme under Kerala PSC does not change drastically for each exam and follows a similar pattern. There are negative markings and an exam cut-off. 

Marking Scheme for Field Worker 2021 Kerala PSC

The exams for field workers to the health services happen according to the states and have individual dates. The total marks for the exam are 100 and the time allotted is 1 hour and 15 minutes.
There are 3 parts to the examination scheme:

  • Part I (General Knowledge)
  • Part II (General Science)
  • Part III (Mental Ability and Simple Arithmetic)

These sections are given under the title of Main Topic in the notification released by Kerala PSC. However, adjacent or related topics outside of the topic mentioned under the Main Topic can also come. The general marking pattern is:

  • Correct answers for every question yields 1 mark
  • Incorrect answers for every question deducts 1/3 of the marks
  • There are 4 options available to every question given

Negative Marking

Negative marking is a selection tool that is used in most competitive exams to recruit eligible candidates to the post. Kerala PSC has a system of negative marking for the Prelims. Along with the eligibility criteria, negative marking scheme, and exam cut-off, these elements function as filter processes to retain only the most suitable of the candidates in the recruitment procedure. For the Field Worker post under Kerala PSC, negative marking is applicable. The field worker is associated with the health service and care development undertaken by the state of Kerala. Candidates appearing for these examinations need to be careful of the negative marking. 

Negative Marking Field Worker 2021

The negative marking in Kerala PSC functions as a way of controlling the number of applicants qualifying for the exams. There is a general rule of according 1 mark to each correctly answered question while 1/3 or 0.33 marks will be deducted when candidates answer incorrectly. Each paper in the Prelims carries 100 marks. So, candidates can score just as easily under this section and lose marks just as easily.
The marking scheme along with the negative marking is as follows:

  • Three parts of the Prelims that include General Knowledge, General Science and Mental Ability and Arithmetic have one paper each of 100 marks
  • The duration of this paper is 75 minutes
  • The answers are written by the candidates on the OMR sheets
  • Correct answers are read automatically by a machine and 1 mark is accorded to each question
  • For each incorrectly answered question 1/3 is deducted from the total marks
  • Candidates must be careful while selecting the answer and must choose an option that they are certain of to avoid negative marking
