Negative Marking for Binder Post
Negative marking is a standard practice in almost all government examinations and the Kerala Public Service Commission is no different. In general, all Kerala PSC examinations do have the system of negative marking where for every wrong answer 1/3 of 1 mark is deducted. The examinations in Kerala Public Service Commission consist of 100 marks of numerous subjects. Applicants are expected to answer 100 questions each consisting of 1 mark in the time limit of 75 minutes. The format of answering is in an OMR sheet and the question pattern is in the form of MCQs (multiple choice questions).
For each correct answer 1 mark is awarded to the student, however for every wrong answer 1/3rd of 1 mark is deducted. This is the general pattern in KPSC exams; however, it is a bit different when it comes to Binder exams. Although the format of the questions and the marking system and answering technique remains to be exactly the same, the system of deduction of marks or negative marking is different. The Binder exams listed under KPSC do not have a system of negative marking. The answers that are not answered or are answered incorrectly are not marked at all and the total score of the candidate depends on the number of questions it has answered correctly.
