Shankar Varman had ruled Utpala Dynasty from 885 – 902 CE and Didda ruled Utpala Dynasty from 980 – 1003 CE. Didda was one of the daughters of Simharāja, who was the emperor of Lohara, and one of the granddaughters of Bhimadeva Shahi. Bhimadeva Shahi had been regarded as one of the “Hindu Shahis of Kabul”. The first Hindu ruler of Kashmir was Gulab Singh. In the time of ShankarVarman, the dynasty faced several misfortunes. After some time the situation had been kept under control. Brahmans were accorded exceptional welfare and many new temples were built at that time. The dynasty started demolishing in 939 AD after the demise of Gopalavarman.
