The Sayyid Dynasty was the fourth delhi dynasty founded by Khizr Khan, who ruled the Delhi Sultanate for 37 years from 1414 to 1451 AD.

The Sayyid Dynasty was the fourth dynasty after the Mamluk, Khilji as well as Tughlaq dynasties, that successfully ruled the Delhi Sultanate for 37 years. Khizr Khan was the founder of the Sayyid Dynasty but this ruler did not take the title of the sultan. Khizr Khan took the control of the Delhi Sultanate by marching againstSultan Nasiruddin Mahmud in favor of Taimur, in the year 1414 AD. Thus, the year 1414 AD is the start of the Sayyid Dynasty. It can be stated that Khizr Khan is the first ruler of the Sayyid Dynasty as well as successfully ruled this dynasty from the year 1414 to 1421 AD.

Khizr Khan was the first ruler as well as the founder of the Sayyid Dynasty. Though Khizr Khan did not take the title of the sultan, after getting the kingship, Malik-us-SharqTuhfa was appointed as the Wazir of Khizr Khan. With the help of Malik-us-Sharq, Khizr Khan successfully took control of several parts such as Surat, Punjab, and many others.

Mubarak Shah was the second ruler of the Sayyid Dynasty as well as the son of Khizr Khan. First, the Hindu nobles were engaged in the court of Delhi by the Mubarak Shah. Moreover, Mubarak Shah was found to issue his coins. On the other hand, a city named Mubarakbad was constructed on the bank of river Jamuna by Mubarak Shah. After the death, nephew Muhammad Shah succeeded Mubarak Shah.

Muhammad Shah was the third ruler of the Sayyid Dynasty as well as considered as the very weak ruler of the Sayyid Dynasty. Moreover, the kingdom of Muhammad Shah was found to see many intrigues as well as hostilities. After his death in 1445, Alauddin Shah succeeded Muhammad Shah.

Alauddin Alam Shah was the fourth as well as the last ruler of the Sayyid Dynasty. As Alauddin Shah was not a strong ruler, many kingdoms under Alauddin Shah’s rule were found to declare their liberty. After three years from the year 1448, Alauddin Shah left the charge, Bahlul Lodi emerged as well as took the kingship of Delhi.
