Mubarak Shah

Indian history shows a varied content starting from Indus Valley civilisation ending to Indian national movement. The Shahid dynasty has revealed its power in the fifteenth century and its one of the most successful emperors has been Mubarak Shah.

This article highlights the contribution of Khilji , Sayyid Dynasty, Mubarak Shah and his importance in Indian history..  He made the famous Tomb of Sultan Mubarak Shah and the contribution of these two dynasties have been significant to establish power in Delhi. The Delhi Sultanate made huge contributions to northern and southern India. Their contribution remained within the period of the thirteenth to sixteenth century. 

Mubarak Shah

Qutub-ud-din Mubarak Shah ruled for the period of 1416 to 1434 CE and he was Sultan of Sayyid dynasty, son of Khizir Khan. He started a rebellion in Gujarat, focussed on recapturing Delhi. Mubarak Shah was the second ruler of this dynasty and during his period he was constantly threatened by his contemporary rulers which led to his assassination in 1934 CE. He has been considered the best ruler of the Sayyid dynasty. During his time this ruler was compelled to invade with the successors of Timur. The biggest threat that he faced during his ruling period was the threat from Jasrath Khokhar. He also gained fame by his contribution to architecture. He built the famous Tomb of Sultan Mubarak Shah. He was the ablest ruler of this dynasty and downcasted the Bhatinda and Doab rebellion. 

History

Contribution of Mubarak Shah in Indian History is recognizable. He was the second emperor of the Sayyid dynasty and inherited the throne from his father. However, he faced difficulty because Sayyids were considered as the survivors of the successors of Taimur. In his period he also faced trouble from the local contemporary rulers. The biggest threat he faced was from a local Muslim ruler named Jasrath Khokhar from Punjab. He fought a battle in 1432and defeated Khokhar and compelled him to leave Delhi charging a huge amount of money. However, after this great victory, Shah was assassinated after two years and his nephew was succeeded to the throne. 

Qutbuddin Mubarak Shah

Qutbuddin Mubarak Shah ruled only for four years in Indian history; however, he has made a huge contribution. He was the son of Alauddin Khalji and a member of Khilji dynasty.  After the demise of Alauddin Khilji, his son Mubarak shah was imprisoned by Malik Kafur. In that period, brother of Malik Kafur, Shihabuddin Omar acted as a puppet monarch. Mubarak Shah ascended the throne after Malik Kafur was murdered. In his period he contributed to the abolition of taxation. He also released several prisoners and adopted populist measures. He stopped the rebellion in Gujarat and captured Devagiri which was his mother’s homeland. However, he was also murdered for the conspiracy of his slave Khusrau Khan who succeeded after his assassination and slave dynasty began in Indian history by that time.  

Sayyid dynasty

The Sayyid dynasty ruled for 37 years in Indian history and was founded by Khizir Khan. He was the governor of Multan and Timur’s deputy in India. The era of this dynasty is from 1414 to 1451 AD and was succeeded by the Tughlaq dynasty. Mainly four rulers ruled within this period and those were Khizir Khan, Mubarak Shah, Alam Shah and Muhamad Shah. Among them, Mubarak Shah is considered the most powerful and able ruler of the Sayyid dynasty. This dynasty ended up during the period of Alam Shah because he faced too many threats and opposition from contemporary rulers and was compelled to surrender in front of Bahlul Lodi, the emperor of the Lodi dynasty.  The Shah dynasty was famous for its architecture and making of Tombs. However, the buildings made were of very low standard because of low financial resources. Their period consisted of wars and disorders. The notable buildings in this period that are still existing are City of Khairabad and Tomb of Sultan Mubarakshah., Tomb of Mubarak Shah

Conclusion

This work has revealed the contribution of the Sayyid dynasty and Khilji dynasty in Indian history and perpetual contribution. It focussed on the two most successful emperors of the Sayyid and Khilji dynasties. It discussed Mubarak shah, his succession, and his contribution to Indian architecture. It also discussed the contribution of Qutubudin Mubarak shah and the history of the Sayyid dynasty has been well described in this work.
