Chalukyas

Chalukyas is one of the important dynasties in India, and basically, the dynasty ruled southern and central parts of India. It has a great role in the history of India, and it has a great impact too.

Chalukya is one of the classical Indian dynasties which ruled a large part of India, and the time period of the dynasty is from 6th to 12th century. Here, in this study, the importance of the Chalukya dynasty and the impacts of the Chalukya dynasty has been portrayed. Besides, the rulers of the Chalukya dynasty have also been highlighted in the present paper.

Range of the dynasty

It can be said that, Chalukya has ruled in India for a long time, and it has a great contribution in the history of India. Generally, the dynasty has spread in Karnataka, and there are three Chalukya empires, who have ruled at different times. Pulakesin I, who is renowned as Badami Chalukyas, spread its dynasty from one small place to broader. The whole Karnataka state was in the grip of the Badami Chalukyas, but after that, he spread his dynasty to a small portion of Andhra Pradesh in his decade. After that, the dynasty has spread its kingdom in the central parts of India too, and after Badami Chalukyas, there are more 2 Chalukyas named Chalukyas of Kalyani and Chalukyas of Vengi, who has also spread their kingdom in the southern and central parts of the India. It is not exactly south; the southern west was their limit to their dynasty. The first chalukya was named Jayasimha, who started his kingdom in Vatapi which is located in Karnataka, and for this reason, the king is named and marked as Badami Chalukyas. He spread his kingdom in Bijapur in the early 6th Century.

Importance of Chalukyas in India

It has already been said that, there is a strong impact of Chalukyas can be noticed in India, and there is a wide spreading importance that can also be noticed of Chalukyas in the present days too. It is important to say that, Chalukyas has made a milestone for India, and there are many proofs and roles of Chalukyas can also be noticed. Different types of arts and architecture have been produced and developed at that time and it helps to provide a clear idea about the history and culture of ancient India. The dynasty was ruled from 6th century to 12th century, and at that time, different types of things and activities can be noticed. At the first stage of the dynasty, especially at the time of Badami Chalukya, the temples and monuments took place in India. There are different temples named which are situated in Badami and Aihole, and there are almost 70 temples there in the times of Chalukyas, and among them, 4 temples are playing the most important role to enhance the culture of the ancient India, as well as it highlights the picture of the old India as well.

The second dynasty of chalukya highlights the temples which are situated in Pattadakal, and the temples are also made by experts and great architectures/. The flour temples at that time portrayed the image of Northern India, and some temples are the marker of Dravidian style. The Papanatha Temple is one of the most important temples in these times, and it is generally constructed in the Northern Style. In Southern parts of India, the Northern style temples are one of the main attractions which also helps to enhance the Indian solidarity and the country’s culture. There is another temple, named Virupaksha temple, which follows the model of Kailasanatha temple which is situated in Kanchipuram.

Badami Chalukyas The time of Badami chalukyas different types of innovation and culture of the country has been enhanced. The western and southern parts of India are the main area where the dynasty took place. Different types of temples and monuments like Durga Temple, Huchimalligudi temple etc. have taken place in India. These temples are generally situated in Karnataka mainly, besides there are few temples, which are located in Andhra Pradesh too.
Chalukyas of Kalyani From the name, it can be understood that, the king has spread his kingdom in Kalyani, and he has also invented different types of architectural things. The Papanatha temple is one of the important inventions which took place at that time. For this reason, it can be said that, during the times of chalukyas, the culture of the country has flourished more.
Chalukyas of Vengi The last king of this dynasty who has made his kingdom and the improvements like the style of temples and architecture has also been changed at this time, and it gives a sign of unity through the country at the time of last Chalukyas.

Conclusion

The study deals with the Chalukyas kingdom, and here, the kings have been addressed and the importance of the dynasty has also been highlighted in the present study. Besides, the temples and literature and other evidences have also taken place in the present study and it helps to portray the culture of India and the image of ancient India too, through the evidences like monuments, literature, transcripts and many more.
