The Indian Maritime University (IMU) stands as a beacon in maritime education, training, and research in India. Established on 14th November 2008 under the Ministry of Shipping, Government of India, IMU has evolved into a leading institution fostering excellence in oceanography, maritime history, maritime laws, maritime security, and more. IMU Campuses
IMU operates from six regional campuses strategically located across the country:
- Chennai Campus: Headquarters of IMU, offering a range of maritime programs.
- Kochi Campus: Providing courses in BBA, B.Sc., and B.Tech in various maritime disciplines.
- Kolkata Campus: Focused on B.Tech in Marine Engineering.
- Mumbai Port Campus: Offers B.Tech in Marine Engineering and B.Sc. in Maritime Science.
- Navi Mumbai Campus: Formerly T S Chanakya, offering a Diploma and B.Sc. in Nautical Science.
- Visakhapatnam Campus: Specializing in B.Tech in Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering.
The Mission of IMU:
- Facilitate quality education in oceanography, maritime history, maritime laws, environmental studies, and related fields.

Eligibility Criteria for IMU:
- A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks.
- A minimum of 50% marks in English in 10th, 12th, and UG standards.
IMU Campus Facilities:

- Hostels: Accommodating students with world-class facilities, including a gym and swimming pool.
- Classrooms: Various modern and well-equipped classrooms with audio-visual aids.
