National Symbols represent India by the qualities which are carefully picked. The word symbols means the absolute power and authority that India has internally. India has around 17 National Signs describing the country’s beauty and power. They have been declared in different-different years and are known for their uniquely held qualities.
The first and foremost national sign is the National Emblem of our India, which is designed by Dinanath Bhargava. After the emblem, many other symbols were discovered.

National Symbols and their meaning
1. National Flag
The Tricolour flag, composed of Saffron, White, and Green, is essential to the country. It also has an Ashoka chakra in the centre, which shows pride and respect. The National flag of India was designed by the Pingali Venkayya and was adopted in 1947 on 22nd July. India named the National Flag “Tiranga”.
The significance of these colours are:
Saffron: It symbolises the Sacrifice done by the freedom fighters.
White: It depicts peace and harmony.
Green: It represents prosperity and fertility.
2. National Bird
The next National sign has the National bird named Peacock. It was declared in 1963 as our National bird and is mainly known as India Peacock. The primary significance of this bird is that the combination of art, royalty, grace, and sweetness has only been found in India.
3. National Animal
The national animal of India is Panthera Tigris/Royal Bengal Tiger. It was declared the National animal during a project, especially for Tigers, in April 1973. The project was initiated with the aim of protecting Tigers. It has great significance as it holds power, strength, and agility. Seeing these fundamental aspects of the Tiger, the republic of India has declared it its National animal.
4. National Anthem
The national anthem of India is “Jana Gana Mana”, which the Nobel Man writes of the country. It was adopted Nationally on 11 December 1911. The Nobel Laureate wrote this anthem for those who are faithful followers of the country and its traditions & cultures. The anthem is fully dedicated to patriotism and loyalty toward the country and those who lost their lives for its well-being. Hence it is known Nationally.
5. National Flower
The following in the list is the National Flower of India, which is the Lotus. It holds an idiosyncratic and has unique significance in the mythology/practically in Indian Culture. The flower grows in the dirt but still does not catch or hold any dirt on itself, which is considered a unique property. The flower grows on the highest peak of its stem and remains untouched by the dirt around it.
6. National Fruit
Mango is known as the national fruit of our country with its prominent features and taste. It was declared in 1950 Nationally. The mango wore great features like it is found in abundance and having wide different varieties like Dasheri, Kashmiri, and Haden, yet every variety has a unique colour and taste. All varieties can be found full of different tasty flavours around the world. It is known as the national fruit because it depicts prosperity, generosity and rich flavours and is found in large quantities.
7. National Song
India has a National song named “Vande Mataram” which was written by Bankimchandra Chatterji. The song was adopted on 24 January 1950 by the Republic of India. The significance of the national song was that it gives inspiration to the youth about the freedom fighters.
8. National Game
The national game of India is Hockey. It was declared because of the popularity and fame it had owned in the past years. Hockey won six continuous Gold medals at the Olympic games. The game was declared Nationally with the motive to spread knowledge of it in Indian Culture and other neighbourhoods.
9. National Tree
The national tree of our country is the Banyan Tree which was declared in 1988. It has gained so much popularity and is known nationally due to its strong and unique qualities. It represents faith, and eternal life has the strongest roots and is well known in Indian mythology. The myth is that it always fulfils your wish and many people used to believe in it.
10. National Emblem
The most important sign of India is the National Emblem designed by Dinanath Bhargava. It was declared on 26 January 1950 by India’s Government. It consists of Ashoka’s Lions standing back from each other. The lions are standing with a separation made by the Dharma Chakras. It signifies the power and constitutional Values/laws.
11. National Currency
Indian Rupee(INR) is the national currency mostly denoted “Rs” as its short form. It is known as Rupiya in Indian Language. The currency was designed by Udaya Kumar. The significance is that it has a unique currency and stable identity of its own. Also, it had not been borrowed from other countries.
