Irrigation Efficiencies

Irrigation efficiency is considered as the ratio in between the amount of the water that is being used to meet the consumptive use that is being required by the crop as well as the necessary requirement in order to maintain the salt balance in the crop in order to maintain the total volume of the water diverted.

The analysis of the irrigation efficiencies as well as the water based efficiencies while determining the properties are being mentioned here in this research based on agricultural engineering. It has been highlighted by the researcher that irrigation efficiency is considered as the ratio in between the amount of the water that is being used to meet the consumptive use that is being required by the crop as well as the necessary requirement in order to maintain the salt balance in the agricultural field while maintaining the water retention according to the rule book based on agricultural engineering. The total water application, water conveyance as well as the water efficiency has been derived here in this research.

Analysis of Irrigation efficiencies

In order to water large areas as well as in order to make the irrigation system much more efficient for the farmers, several irrigation efficiencies can be undertaken here in this research. These can be highlighted as water conveyance based efficiency, water application based efficiency, water use efficiency, and consumptive based efficiency depending on use. Making the economy of a country better is considered as very important to sustain any kind of competition and one of the contributing factors is improving the irrigation system. Irrigation efficiency can be improved by the help of proper tools and a good amount of funds. On the other hand, there happen to be several factors that are needed to be considered in order to increase the efficiency of irrigation and have been discussed in this research.

Types of Water based Irrigation efficiencies

Based on the water based irrigation technique several irrigation efficiencies can be undertaken here in this research. These can be highlighted as water conveyance based efficiency, water application based efficiency, water use efficiency, and consumptive based efficiency depending on use. Among them the water distribution, conveyance as well as water application based efficiency is being considered as the major. Types several types of water irrigation base efficiencies are being defined as follows:

Water application based efficiency

The ratio of the amount of water that has been applied to the root zone of the plants to the amount that has been supplied in the land is considered as this efficiency.

“ηu = Wu Wl × 100”

 Where,

“ηu =Water application based efficiency
Wl = Amount of water that has been applied to the root zone

Wu = Amount of water that has been supplied to the land”

Water conveyance based efficiency

The ratio of the amount of water that has been applied to the land to the amount of water that has been supplied from the reservoir is obtained by this efficiency.

“ηc = Wl Wr × 100”

Where,

“ηc = Water conveyance based efficiency
Wl = Amount of water that has been applied to the land

Wr = Amount of water that has been supplied from the reservoir”

Water distribution based efficiency

It has been considered the amount of water that has been distributed all around the land from the reservoir and is considered as the major factor to be concerned about.

Properties of Irrigation efficiencies

There happens to be several properties in irrigation in order to improve the cultivability of a land and those can be discussed as follows. Percolation is considered as one of the first and foremost properties of irrigation that can improve the quality of the crops grown. Along with a proper usage of percolation technique, the crops are properly able to get the water in the field. In addition to that, the land should be cultivated properly in order for the land to help the crops to grow properly. It has been highlighted by the researcher that irrigation efficiency is considered as the ratio in between the amount of the water that is being used to meet the consumptive use that is being required by the crop as well as the necessary requirement in order to maintain the salt balance. Depth of soil texture is also considered as an important factor.A proper depth of soil texture helps a land to make sure that the fertilizers and other minerals are reached to the ground. As per it can be analyzed that evaporation and evapotranspiration can only be enhanced by a proper texture of soil

Conclusion

It can be concluded from the above research that several irrigation efficiency improvement techniques have been undertaken in order to improve the crops growth and also to maintain the efficiency during irrigation. Water conveyance based efficiency, water application based efficiency, water use efficiency, consumptive based efficiency are considered as the major irrigation efficiency types that can be considered and are being highlighted as well as analyzed here in this research. Understanding the soil structure as well as maintaining the soil balance in the land depicts the important factor in the agricultural industry while maintaining water conveyance based efficiency.

Ans : Rotation of crops is one of the most important things to consider in order to make sure that the irrigation system is going properly.

Ans : In case the crops are sown in a rotational method then it will not only be easier for the land to improve its cultivability but also the rate of growth for the crops will be high enough.

Ans : In addition to the above-mentioned point, it can also be mentioned that the land should be kept unused for some time in order for the land to regain its minerals and nutrients for the crops.

Ans : Keeping the land unused not only helps the land but also it helps to make sure that the external nutrients are less needed for the crops.
