About LTE
“Long Term Evolution” is the acronym for LTE. UMTS and HSPA were their forerunners. This standard is built on the foundations of its precedents, UMTS & HSPA, and transmits data at high speeds. With a new interface and slight upgrades to the core network, it’s a significant step towards high-quality cellular data services. Voice over LTE, or VoLTE, is a technology that was developed to enable native voice in LTE. Over 4G LTE makes HD voice calls much faster and more efficient than 2G/3G connections. Calls are connected on 3G connections in approximately 7 seconds, but the connecting time drops considerably if both users use VoLTE on 3G connections. The connection will take only a few seconds if they are both on VoLTE.
