Introduction
The SAT is abbreviated as Scholastic Aptitude Test, which is a standardised test to check the critical reading and maths of the student. The SAT was used for college admissions in the United States. SAT is an important test for the admission process.
SAT is generally taken by high school juniors and seniors to measure the literacy, numeracy, and writing skills they learned in school and that are needed for academic success. Many of the college and university admission SAT scores are mandatory. SAT is a time limit test which has a fixed time interval to complete the test.
Scholastic Aptitude Test
The first Scholastic Aptitude Test was developed by Brigham in 1926. Brigham and his team had combined nine different subjects for the first test. The first test had 315 questions. There were only 90 minutes to complete the first SAT.

Age Limit

Exam Pattern and Structure of SAT
The scholastic aptitude test consists of two main parts, the reasoning test and the subject test. The third part of the test is essay writing. The reasoning section includes verbal and mathematical reasoning, and the subject part includes subjects like history, social studies, mathematics, science, English, and languages.
The reading section of the test is based on multiple-choice questions from the passages. Tables, graphs, and charts can be a part of some passages. The number of questions in this section is 52. The reading section is conducted for 65 minutes.
The writing section also contains some passages with multiple-choice questions. The writing skills are evaluated on the basis of suggested corrections or improvements written by students in this section of the test. The total number of questions in this section is 44. The time limit for the writing section is 35 minutes.
The math section of the test includes multiple-choice questions and grid-in questions, which are free to respond to. The math section contains 58 questions to be attempted in 80 minutes. This section also includes two categories which are based on the usage of the calculator. One section of the math test allows the use of a calculator, and the other one does not allow the calculator to solve the questions.
Score and Time Duration
The reasoning section is based on a score of 200 to 800, and the subject section is also based on a score of 200 to 800. The total score of the SAT exam is calculated by the sum of scores of both sections that are 400 to 1600. The SAT exam is generally organised for three hours or three hours and fifty minutes if the optional essay section is taken.
Fee and Cut Off Marks
The fee is based on the sections of the SAT exam. For two sections, the fee will be US $50, and for three sections of SAT, including the essay section, the fee will be US $65. The fee includes some additional fees over the US $45 if the exam is conducted outside of the United States. Additional fees are applicable on conditions like late registration, standby testing, and registration changes.
The cut off marks are one of the essential requirements to get admission. There is no official cut-off for the SAT examination. The minimum score obtained by any student is 400, and
maximum is 1600. To get admission to top universities or colleges, the minimum score goes up to 1400.
