NSS Full Form

Here NSS is denoting the National Service Scheme. This scheme is launched under the ministry of youth affairs and sports by the government of India. The NSS is an opportunity for the youth student. The students who are studying in 11th and 12th class at school and the students who are pursuing under graduation courses or post-graduation courses from technical subjects, both of them are eligible for grabbing this opportunity.  And the opportunity of participation comes under the National Service Scheme.

 Aim of NSS

There are various community service programs and activities, which the Government of India leads. So the students after the 10th of India are blessed by the opportunity to participate in the various community service programs and activities led by the government. And this opportunity of participation is provided by the National Service Scheme. In a nutshell, the National Service Scheme aims to provide hands-on experience and knowledge to student youth in delivering community services. 

The interest of young students in the National Service Scheme can be tracked by the increment in the number of students participating in various community services and programs led by the Government. So now we shall throw light on the facts and figures. Forty thousand students took part in community service programs in 1969 and now there were approximately 3.8 million students who took part in community service programs in March 2018. 

About the NSS Badge 

There is a badge specified for the NSS. It means that the badge is specified or customised for the persons engaged in volunteering as government service activities. The persons participating in government service schemes volunteering wear these NSS badges. After wearing this prestigious NSS badge, the volunteers feel a different sense of responsibility towards society and the country. Design of the Badge

Now we will study the design of the NSS badge. If you have observed the NSS badge ever before then, you’ll have seen the symbol of the Konark Wheel. There are 8 bars within the Konark wheel. Those 8 bars signify the 24 hours of a day. These 8 bars or 24 hours on the badge of NSS directs the sense of being prepared to the wearer or volunteer for the service of the nation or society at any time, at any point in 24 hours. So, in a nutshell, 8 bars and Konark Wheel reminds the duty of an NSS volunteer towards the nation and society. 

Except for 8 bars within the Konark Wheel, there is a red colour filling in the NSS badge. This red colour in the NSS badge denotes the energy and spirit displayed by the NSS volunteers. 

Except for the red colour, there is also a filling of blue in the NSS badge. This blue colour in the NSS badge shows the cosmos of which NSS is a little part. This blue colour signifies the intention of NSS volunteers. That intention is the spirit of being ready to contribute and participate actively in the welfare of humanity.
