Introduction
LAN is the local area network that handles the connectivity of the devices that are connected to LAN weirdly or wirelessly. The connection point of the devices, switches, routers are all handled by the use of LAN. It is mainly the collection of the various devices that are connected and share the common networks. The main components of LAN are the Ethernet cables and 2 altered switches are also needed for maintaining the connectivity among the devices that have been connected. Wi-Fi and Ethernet cables both can be used for the continuity of the connectivity of LAN.
LAN
The full form of LAN is the Local area network where more than two devices are connected to this network system and this can work better within a small geographical location. The highest connectivity of the LAN can be found in a building. LAN is used in a building, in colleges, in Schools, and in-office areas. The LAN needs the internet connection to work and after being connected to the router, the connectivity of the LAN can be used by all the connected devices. It can work as being a single router or it can be used with the help of type layer 2 switches. For providing the connectivity of LAN a computer and a Router is needed. The devices that will be connected to the LAN need to have Wi-Fi or hotspot facilities.
Establishment of LAN
The concept of LAN was first demonstrated by Robert Bob Metcalfe in 1960. The establishment of LAN was down in the year of 1970s. It has been invented to provide the facilities of the internet and to connect the devices of the school, workstations of NASA. The primer needed for this invention was to connect one computer to another.
Type of LAN
It can be of mainly two types such as the Server LAN and the peer-to-peer LAN.
Server LAN
This is also known as the client LAN and many devices are connected to the main system, called a server. By the use of this type of LAN different types of work can be done such as the access of the different applications, network traffic, and storage of the file can also be done. This LAN is also provided with wired and wireless connectivity facilities.
Peer-to-peer LAN
The central server is absent in this type of LAN and it can be used for handling the small works as it is unable to bear heavy workloads. This type of LAN is mostly used in the homes as there is one source to hate the network connection and one device is connected to it. The devices that are connected to this LAN system share an equal amount of permission to access the internet connection. It is mostly used for online gaming or such platforms.
Wireless LAN (WLAN)
This type of LAN is used for the collection and the spread of high-frequency radio waves. In this case, one router is used or one access point is provided and the connectivity of the internet is provided via the router of the base device
Virtual LAN (VLAN)
This type of LAN is mostly used in the logical groups of the computers and the networking system is meant to be underneath the physical networks. This type of LAN consists of ports and multiple switches for spreading its connectivity on the devices. It also provides a feature of communication among connected devices.
Advantages of LAN
It connects all the connected devices in one location. By The use of LAN, a whole building can get the connectivity features and no other LAN will be needed for this purpose. It not only connects the devices and spreads the network system but it also helps in sharing the files. It can also print or share the staff to the printer. It has also influenced the invention of wireless and Wi-Fi technology. Sharing of the hardware and the software technologies are the main primer benefit of LAN. It also provides private ownership to the user and it also protects the users from hackers by maintaining privacy concerns.

As per the discussion of the project, it is understood that LAN is the local area network that helps in connecting one computer with another computer or device. It also helps in providing an internet connection to all the devices that are connected to the LAN. There are main sources which run by both Wi-Fi and Ethernet cables. LAN can be connected with the main source weirdly or wirelessly. It not only provides connectivity but also helps in the sharing of files from one device to another device. Different types of LANs can be used for both domestic and commercial purposes. It helps in protecting connected devices from hackers.
