It is like one of the usual yet famous social media trends around us. However there is no clear determination of its actual origin. As per records it was seen to be used by @bobbysander22 .
Sports Illustrated has a different view and links the term with a blog mainly written about sneaker specific topics called nice kicks . They said that the blog used to post regular photos of old footwear for basketball in 2006. This series was named the Throwback Thursday because they were posted on Thursdays.
The users on Instagram used it over 500 million times.
The Sports Illustrated had the caption but it came to limelight once it was brought out on mainly Instagram and other social media handles.
How does it actually work?
It is very simple to understand that the users post pictures with nostalgia on their account from a different time period than the present and then caption it as #tbt or #throwbackthursday.
This trend actually saw a variety of different people posting their earlier moments which could have been funny, old clothes, her or style and even something positive. The post can be of anything and even something of past memory. It may be a childhood picture, old relationships, old songs etc. Therefore anything that makes you remember about good memories were making you feel nostalgic could have been uploaded with the #tbt.
