Naik Yeshwant Ghadge (1921- 1944)

Recently, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid tributes to Naik Yeshwant Ghadge.

  • About: He was one of the hero of World War II. He bravely captured an enemy post single-handedly amidst heavy fire, but it led  to his death  at just under 23 years of age.
  • Recognition: For his courage, Ghadge was awarded the Victoria Cross, the highest British military honor, with a citation highlighting his outstanding courage and devotion to duty.
  • He was a key person in the Italian Campaign (1943-45) of the Second World War. This was a significant counteroffensive by the Allies against the Axis Powers in Italy, where Ghadge and other soldiers faced formidable German defenses.
