The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List has evaluated the Himalayan Wolf for the first time.

Key Points:

    • It is also called as Tibetan wolves.
    • They live at more than 4,000 metres.
    • Genetically adapted to low oxygen conditions.

  • IUCN: Vulnerable
  • CITES: Appendix I
  • Wildlife Protection Act, 1972: Schedule I            
  • Habitat:
  • Tibetan Plateau in China.
  • In  India, it is found in  Ladakh and in the Lahaul and Spiti regions in northeastern Himachal Pradesh.
