Key Highlights from AISHE 2021-22 Report

Enrollment Increase: Total student enrollment reached 4.33 crore, showing an increase from the previous year.
Government Institutions’ Dominance: 73.7% of students enrolled in government universities, with state public universities having the largest share (31%).
Female Enrollment Growth: Female student enrollment rose to 2.07 crores in 2021-22, a 32% increase since 2014-15, with the highest numbers at the postgraduate level (55.4% are women).
Gender Enrolment Ratio (GER): Stands at 28.4 for the age group 18-23 years, favoring women in 26 states and UTs. Chandigarh leads with the highest GER (64.8%).

Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER): Measures the number of students in higher education in a given population.

Gender Parity Index (GPI): At an all-India level, it is 1.01, indicating near parity between genders.
Student Demographics: Among graduates, about 50.8% are women, with higher graduation rates in arts and social sciences. About 35% of students are OBC, 13% SC, and 5.7% S
