- It is very common in children under the age of 5.
- Causative Agent: Coxsackievirus
- It belongs to a group of viruses called nonpolio enteroviruses.
- It spreads through person-to-person contact or respiratory droplets are sprayed into the air after a cough or sneeze.
- There’s no vaccine for hand, foot, and mouth disease.
It usually goes away on its own after 7 to 10 days.
