Flood forecast app-FloodWatch

Recently, the Chairman of the Central Water Commission (CWC) launched the mobile application, FloodWatch.

About the App: 

  • Provides State-wise/Basin-wise Flood Forecast (up to 24 hours) or Flood Advisory (up to 7 days).
  • It uses advanced technologies such as satellite data analysis, mathematical modeling, and real-time monitoring,

 

Why in news 

  • Recently, the Chairman of the Central Water Commission (CWC) launched the mobile application, FloodWatch.



Central Water Commission (CWC): 

    • It is an attached office to the Ministry of Jal Shakti under the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation.
    • Main objective: conservation and effective use of the nation’s water resources, irrigation, navigation, drinking water supply, and water power development.
