Application of Vaccines

There are many diseases that can be cured or we can be protected through vaccines. Application of Vaccines helps in getting registered for taking vaccination. They are like an antidote for those diseases. Vaccines are a biological preparation that helps our body in fighting with those diseases.

Nowadays very harmful and deadly viruses are present in our surroundings which can affect our body as well as our immune system so it’s better to take prevention and stay safe. Application of Vaccines helps your body in learning how to protect it from viruses. It makes your immune system stronger that helps your body in fighting from those viruses due to which very little amount of those viruses attacks the body which automatically get killed after arriving inside the body. Your body already has learned about how to fight from those types of virus, so in future if that virus again attacks the body then it would easily defend against those viruses with the help of vaccines.

Categories of Vaccines

From the clinical trials as well as research it has been found that there are different types of vaccines which help our body in fighting from those deadly viruses or bacteria. Scientists created or made those vaccines after a lot of study as well as research. Some of the factors that scientists considered before making vaccines were:

  • The germ that is spreading and is also harmful for your body, how your immune system is reacting to those germs.
  • It’s really important to find that the vaccine that is being provided for that particular virus should be given to that person or not or in other words you can say who actually needs that vaccination.

From those above factors only scientist decided to make different types of vaccines which would work for different viruses, some of those vaccines are:

    • Inactivated vaccines: Inactivated vaccines are those vaccines that contains different particles of viruses, bacteria or any other pathogens (it is a kind of bacterium, viruses any other microorganism that causes disease) that have been killed because of the capacity of producing diseases and also they have been raised in the culture. Examples of this vaccine are: inactivated poliovirus vaccine, whole cell pertussis vaccines, rabies vaccines, and hepatitis A virus vaccine.
    • Live-attenuated vaccines: Live-attenuated vaccines are those vaccines that are being created by reducing the virulence of a pathogen but skill keeping it alive. Some of the live-attenuated vaccines are: MMR combined vaccine, Rotavirus, Smallpox, Chickenpox etc.
    • Messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccines: An mRNA vaccine is a type of vaccine that helps in improvement or you can say produce an immune system by copying a molecule called messenger RNA. mRNA vaccines are used to protect against COVID-19 also.
    • Subunit, recombinant, polysaccharide, and conjugate vaccines: These vaccines use some specific or some particular pieces of germs like its protein, sugar or capsid and then it helps in targeting the key parts of the germs by increasing the response of the immune system. These vaccines are used against HPV, Hib, Whooping cough etc.
  • Toxoid vaccines: Toxoid vaccines are made by the toxins of the germs and its main aim is to kill the harmful part of the germs rather than the whole germs. They make immunity for killing those harmful parts of germs, not the whole germs. Toxoid vaccine can be used to protect against Diphtheria, and tetanus.
  • Viral vector vaccines: Viral vector vaccines are used to make COVID-19 vaccines. Viral vaccines use a different or modified version of a virus as a vector so that the best cure for those particular diseases can be made. According to some clinical trials it has been seen that adenovirus is one of the viral vectors which has been used to make some of the COVID-19 vaccines.
