CDS Application Process

If you want to appear for the CDS exam, the candidates should check the complete application process, fee structure, etc beforehand.

CDS Application Process 2022

Candidates can apply online by visiting the official website. Candidates need to follow the instructions mentioned below when filling the application form:

Instructions for Filling up the Application Form

  1. Detailed instructions to fill the online application is available on the official website.
  2. Candidates need to fill Part 1 and Part 2 of the online application form according to the instructions available on the website.
  3. Candidates need to pay Rs. 200 (except SC/ST candidates and those specified in Note 2 of Point 4 (Fee) of the Notice who are exempted from payment of fee) either by depositing money in any branch of SBI or by using the Net banking facility of State Bank of India or by using any Rupay Credit/Visa/Master/Debit Card.
  4. Before filling out the application form, a candidate needs to have their photograph and signature scanned in JPG format and the file should not be more than 300KB each and must not be less than 20KB for photograph and signature. 
  5. The matriculation certificate needs to be ready prior to filling the application form. The necessary details such as Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, & DOB that needs to be filled in the online application form should match with the Matriculation Certificate.
  6. Candidates need to share the details of one photo  id (Aadhar Card/ Voter Card/ PAN Card/ Passport/ Driving Licence/ Any other photo ID Card issued by the State/Central Government. Candidates need to upload a scanned copy of the Photo ID whose details are provided in the application form. Candidates need to carry the photo ID to the examination centre and use the same for all referencing purposes.
  7.  The online application form- Part 1 and Part 2 can be filled from December 2021 to 11th January 2022. 
  8. Candidates should not submit multiple applications. If due to unavoidable circumstances they need to fill the form more than once, applicants need to ensure the application with higher RID is complete in all aspects. 
  9. In case of multiple applications, the application with higher RID will be considered.
  10. Candidates need to provide a valid and active email address as the Commission may use an electronic mode of communication while contacting the candidates.
  11. Candidates need to check their emails and ensure that email address ending with @nic.in are directed to their inbox.
  12. Candidates are advised not to wait till the last date to complete the application form. The commission introduced a provision to withdraw the application form for the candidate, who doesn’t want to appear for the exam.  

Candidates in Government Services, including those in the Government-owned industrial undertakings, Armed Forces, and other similar organisations, as well as those in private employment, should directly apply online to the Commission.

I: Persons employed in Government Services should notify (in writing) to their Head of Department/Office that they have applied for this examination.

II: Candidates in the Armed Forces should notify (in writing) to their Commanding Officer that they have applied for this examination.

Candidates should know that if the Commission receives information from their employer denying them permission to apply for or appear in the examination, their applications will be rejected and their candidatures will be cancelled.

Candidates do not have to submit any certificates supporting claims about their age, educational qualification, SC/ST/OBC, and fee concession with their applications.

The candidates should make sure that they fulfil the eligibility criteria to appear for the examination.

The admission will be purely provisional, subject to candidates fulfilling the prescribed eligibility requirements. If candidates fail to meet any of the eligibility conditions, their candidature will be cancelled.

Candidates should have the following documents ready in original, as well as self-attested copies, as soon as the result of the written examination is announced:

  1.   Secondary School Examination/Matriculation Certificate or an equivalent document stating the date of birth.
  2. Provisional Degree Certificate/Degree/Marks sheet indicating that you passed your degree examination and are eligible for a degree.

The eligible candidates should carry their original Secondary School Examination/Matriculation Certificate and their Provisional Degree Certificate/Degree/Marks sheet while appearing for the SSB interview. Candidates who have not yet passed the final year examination must carry an original certificate from the College Principal/Institution stating that they have appeared/are appearing in the final year examination. Candidates who do not carry any of the above certificates in original to the selection centre will not be allowed to appear for the SSB test and interview.

  1. If their claims are found to be false/fabricated/incorrect/fraud, they may be subjected to the following disciplinary actions:

A candidate who is or has been found guilty by the Commission of: —

a) Obtaining support through the following means:

  • offering illegal gratification
  • pressurising
  •  blackmailing or threatening to blackmail anyone involved in conducting the examination

b) Impersonation.

c) Submitting incorrect documents.

d) Resorting to the following means in connection with the candidature for the examination:

  •  obtaining question paper through improper means
  •  obtaining the personal information of people involved in secret work related to the examination
  •  manipulating the examiners

e) Using unfair means during the examination.

f) Writing irrelevant matters in the scripts.

g) Being disobedient in the examination hall.

h) Threatening or causing harm to the examination staff or students.

i) Possessing or using mobile phones, any electronic equipment or any storage media device during the examination.

j) Failing to follow the instructions provided to candidates with their admission certificates, allowing them to take the examination.

k) Attempting to commit all or any of the acts listed above, in addition to facing criminal charges, shall be disqualified: –

                    i. From any examination or selection held by the Commission.

                    ii. From any employment under the Central government.

Provided that no penalty under this rule shall be imposed except after: —

                    i. Giving the candidate an opportunity of making such representation in writing as the candidate may wish to make in that behalf.

                    ii. Taking the representation, if any, submitted by the candidate within the period allowed for this purpose, into consideration.

  1. Any person found guilty of committing any of the offences listed at Clauses (a) to (m) above will be accountable for action in terms of Clause (n).
