Global Warming

Global warming is a climate change caused by the warming of the earth's atmosphere, caused by the greenhouse effect.

Introduction

Ever got anxious seeing it raining in the opposite season? Or harsh winds, thunderstorms and hail storms. Some areas face major drought or extreme conditions. Why is it so, and what causes this weather condition? These changes are all caused due to global warming. All this change in the climate and heating up of the earth due to harsh human activities like burning fossil fuels that increase the heat-trapping levels in the earth’s atmosphere is collectively called Global warming. The term itself clearly describes its meaning, i.e., “global” – meaning the earth and “warming”- heating up process. It is very much about the word climate change, though both directly refer to both humans and the warming produced by the natural effects it creates on the planet. In simple words, we can describe global warming as “earth catching fever”. This is not new, and global warming has occurred since pre-industrial times. Day by day, human activities have directly impacted the earth’s atmosphere (the earth’s average global temperature is about 1 degree Celsius or 1.8 degrees in Fahrenheit). Every decennium, these numbers increase at 0.2 degrees Celsius (0.35 degrees Fahrenheit). Human activities have been warming the land, water (oceans and other river bodies), and the atmosphere.

Causes Of Global Warming

The causes of global warming are very generic and basic to understand. We know the cause as all of them are right before, but somehow, we tend to ignore them as we take them very minute and negligible. One of the main reasons for global warming is the greenhouse effect (also considered the natural phenomenon acquainted with heating the earth’s atmosphere). However, the greenhouse effect is somehow linked with human activities only. The world’s leading researchers and scientists believe that human-based activities are the leading cause of global warming in this century. Everything is related to what and how we use things without even giving thought to what it may cause to our environment. Some of the leading human activities are listed as follows: –

Burning Fossil Fuels- fossil fuels are massively used worldwide for even the smallest needs. However, burning coal oils cause heating up of the environment and subsequently heating the atmosphere and hence the globe.

Excessive use of resources- every resource we use is eventually linked with global warming as heat release can be observed at every usage, may it be the use of even the most miniature LED bulb.

Deforestation- the process of cutting down trees without planting has a significant role in climate change. It is because trees intend to absorb carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere, but the stored CO2 is released into the atmosphere when they are cut.

Effects Of Global Warming

We see the changes day-by-day happening around us, whether the unusual changing of temperature or the feeling of an uncanny atmosphere with smog all around. The effects of global warming range from us as human beings to non-living things, including oceans and ecosystems. Some of which are listed below: –

On ecosystem- The rapid increase of temperatures and the climate binges disturb the biodiversity, modifying the conditions and lifestyle of plant reproduction cycles. This has led to the disappearance of many species so far.

Ocean and other water bodies- Because of global warming, the ice is melting at both the poles and increasing the sea level rate like never before. As a result, the wildlife in the polar regions are getting affected, and the poles that hold biodiversity billions of years old are the only place where humans did not destroy habitat.

In general, humans- we, in general, are not very much related to this kind of upstream in the ecosystem. However, climate change is affecting social well-being and personal health. For example, rising sea levels lead to floods and disasters, causing stack migration.

How Prevention stands a Chance

We all need to prevent this from rising further at this point of climatic change and global warming stats. There are many ways to start with, and the main and the first one is spreading awareness and making the youth spread the knowledge and the actual global warming meaning to the public and the cons of it. Then there come some other resources of using the provided help in the limit, switching off the light when not needed. Save water, and don’t unnecessarily waste it. We all know the 3 R’s (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle). We need to practice Afforestation more effectively to sustain global warming for future levels and not intend it to rise. The emission of harmful chemical smoke out of the factories needs to be reduced down or filtered inside the industries and making reuse of it in other places would help a lot to control the rapid heat-up of our environment.

Conclusion:

The conclusion of global warming confirms that it is one of the significant challenges for our upcoming future.

Working on the solutions to resolve this global issue is very much required.

Global warming is the greenhouse effect caused by drastic climate change.
