Human Genome Project

It is an international project aimed to determine the DNA sequence of the human genome, which would help discover the solutions of many upcoming or genetically inherited diseases and map the complete set of genes.

Introduction

Whenever we get sick or feel indisposed, there are medicines created to cure every illness and how our body responds to it. Have you ever thought about why the meds react when taken? It won’t react and won’t work? This is because our DNA contains information about the reactions that are there to confirm the process of curing any particular illness. Now, there are a whole new virus and flu that our body is not capable of overcoming (one of the most prominent examples being covid-19). This is where Human Genome Project (HGP) takes control, and this is a project started in October 1980. It is one of the greatest triumphs of exploration in the history of mankind, and The Human Genome Project is the most important as it uses information from Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) to evolve new ways to treat many diseases afflict Mankind. We will have the information to make medicines to fight those diseases unaware of. The Human Genome Project was an international research program whose goal was to understand all our genes as humans as genes are called “genome”.

Understanding Genetic Inheritance

The planning for The Human Genome Project started in 1948 by the United States Government but came into play officially in 1990. A parallel project was also launched, but HGP had more sponsorship from the government. The project aimed to map the human body’s nucleotides in the haploid reference genome. James Watson was designated to go on further with the NIH component. With luck in hand, Human Genome Research became National Centre for Human Genome Research. The primary aim that led was in simple, clear-cut terms in its name “Understanding our Genetic Inheritance: The Human Genome Project, The First Five Years”. The researchers had an aim to identify all the 30,000 genes in our DNA. It understands the round sequence of three billion chemical base pairs that form the human DNA and store the information. Technology also played a significant role in understanding the potential benefits of HGP that which are molecular medicine, risk assessment, the risks of fighting diseases, and the role each information from the DNA plays in it. With this project, the medical field can improve the diagnosis of diseases and detect the genetic ones to deal with them before time. This can also lead to control gene therapy. Imagine knowing the genetic unknown diseases pre-hand and having the appropriate medicines to deal with them is more fulfilling than having null or no cure for it. There will be much change and control in drug designing through the information collected from the database stored in the human DNA. The process of using genes themselves to treat disease, also called gene therapy, has concurred attention throughout biomedical aesthetics for good. This project had led to many open routes to the limitless solutions to the fact that there were times when people died due to a lack of information and knowledge about that particular disease. Taking out information within the gene reactions is a process way ahead of time.

Beneficial Approach

The Human Genome Project is there to sequence the genomes of bacteria that are efficient in producing energy. The toxic waste being reposed out of many industrial factories will be reduced and, along with this, subsequently heal the environment. This will help the researchers better understand the exact process of how the viruses and how pathogens microbes will cause disease. Aligning the microbes altogether will help vulnerability create new drugs and antibodies and experience new tests. Gaining the upper hand and a deep understanding of the microbial world will provide different and new results. Some are positive, and some are reasonably true. In the coming years, scientists will get to it and find most human genes as there is also a significant challenge of fake genes or so-called “faulty genes” playing a significant role in causing disease. The whole process of designing drugs will be revolutionized using the necessary process of understanding the gene process. This will indeed have much lesser side effects than the drugs used today.

Virtuous and Social Concerns

The translation of the human project brings a lot many concerns about how the technology will play the role or what equipments will be used in what manner and their primary application. The psychological issues raised with this project are highly informative, and those at the verge of risk are being called and tested for the same. Still, they are in the intentions of being at risk for genetic transmission of diseases but for those who don’t show such symptoms. These concerns form a loop of discussions between the scientists and the ability to develop DNA-based tests, which are also accomplished to run correctly and efficiently for better results and effective prevention.

Conclusion

The Human Genome Project discovered the complete set of human genes, sequenced them, mapped them all to physical and other related chromosome features.

The whole project concluded that humans have 99.9% identical genomes. Then, it showed that the beginning to understand the problematic choreography of humans involves gene expression. The stage to develop a catalog was set by only the Human genome project slide share.

This project provided many solutions to diseases with new tools and techniques.
