Statements and Assumption Questions

In this lecture we are going to learn about A Short Note On Statements And Assumption Questions, statements and assumptions questions and answers, statements and assumptions tricks, statement and assumptions formulas and many more things.

In a statement and assumption question, a statement is provided in the question, which is then followed by a few assumptions drawn from it. Candidates must select the assumption that is most logically and appropriately correct.

What are Statements And Assumption Questions?

An assumption is anything that we take for granted, or for which we make an assumption. In numerous government examinations, applicants will be given a series of assertions followed by a series of assumptions. By reading the provided statements, applicants must make the correct choice. Here, making the correct choice entails choosing the correct assumption.

In various government competitive examinations, multiple sorts of tasks based on Statement and Assumption reasoning are posed.

Statement and Assumption Reasoning- all Tips and Tricks

  • The section on Statement and Assumption reasoning is accompanied by a variety of helpful hints and strategies for candidates.
  • An assumption is the missing link in an argument’s logical structure. It is presumed since it is left unsaid.
  • There are several standard types of statements that assume certain facts in a standard manner.
  • When evaluating the validity of a particular assumption, certain crucial terms should be taken into account.
  • Rarely is the answer option “any of them is implicit” correct for assumption questions.
  • The assumption should be evaluated from the Author’s perspective, not yours.
  • There are several words that provide extra emphasis to the sentence’s meaning. The terms “surely,” “definitely,” “only,” “best,” “strongest,” “all,” etc. Provide a sense of exclusivity to the statement and, as a result, narrow its scope.

Questions and Answers on Statement and Assumption

1: Statement: According to me, you should have a paediatric professional evaluate your child.

Assumption: specialists are better at diagnosing than general practitioners.

Ans :

The assumption is reasonable. One is recommending the parent to have his child examined by a paediatrician. Evidently, he may be assuming that specialists diagnose better than general practitioners.

2: Statement:

“The party will begin at six o’clock. Please be seated prior to 6:00 p.m.” The last phrase in an invitation card.

Assumption: the party will begin on time.

Ans :

The fact that the invitation instructs the recipient to be seated by 6:00 p.m. implies that the celebration will begin on time. It is the responsibility of the invitee to arrive before 6:00 p.m.

3: Statement: The government should concentrate on tackling pressing problems.

rather than attempting to solve problems predicted for the future.

Assumption: current problems should be prioritised over future ones.

Ans

: The phrase “fixing the immediate difficulties of today rather than attempting to solve the future problems” indicates that current problems should be prioritised before anticipated issues. This implies an assumption.

4: Statement:Rain fell during the night last night. The soil must have gotten damp.

Assumption: When it rains, the ground is assumed to grow wet.

Ans :

Objects that come into contact with water become wet, as is common knowledge. Therefore, when it rains, the soil becomes wet owing to water. This is therefore a valid assumption.

5: Statement: Manufacturing industries in Tamil Nadu are experiencing severe power shortages.

Course of Action:

The government should take action to resolve the energy crisis.

To conserve energy, the government should close down manufacturing enterprises.

Ans :

When manufacturing enterprises face an electrical shortage, it is the responsibility of the government to resolve the industrial power crisis. The state’s industrial growth would be halted if it were necessary to shut down businesses in order to conserve energy. Therefore, only the first line of action is appropriate.

6: Statement:

Folk music is decreasing in the United States.

Assumptions:

Folk music is performed exclusively in communities and villages.

Performers sing folk music in a variety of programmes.

Ans :

Both assumptions are not implicit because the statement provides no information about the individuals who enjoy folk music. hence neither assumption I nor assumption II is implicit.

7: Statement: It is beneficial to enrol the child in school at age 3.

Assumptions: A child of age three is not prepared to study.

This will improve a child’s academic performance.

Ans :

The statement indicates that enrolling a kid in school at the age of three is beneficial, but does not specify whether the youngster is ready to study or whether doing so will improve academic performance.

Consequently, neither I nor II is true.

Conclusion

The assumption testing of your chosen analysis enables you to determine whether you can accurately draw inferences from your analysis’s results. You can consider assumptions to be the prerequisites you must meet before doing your analysis.

Without a doubt, the foundation of all reputable and valid research is assumptions. In reality, research problems cannot be identified without assumptions, as they impact the conclusions that will be drawn from the investigation.
