A number series refers to a collection of numbers that are grouped in a specified order and follow a pattern. In this section, we’ll look at questions in which you’re given a sequence of numbers (which are referred to as the terms of the series). Throughout the series, these numbers/terms follow a consistent pattern.

Types of Number Series

Given below are some of the types of number series:

Addition Series

Specific numbers depending on some pattern are added to get the following number in this type of number series explanation.

Subtraction Series

Specific integers depending on some pattern are removed to get the following number in this type of number series reasoning.

Multiplication Series

A specific form of number pattern is multiplied to acquire the next number in this type of number series logic.

Division Series

A specific form of number pattern is divided to produce the next number in this type of number series logic.

Squares Series

Each number is indeed a perfect square of a particular number pattern in this form of number series reasoning.

Cube Series

Each number is a perfect cube of a particular number pattern in this form of number series reasoning.

Fibonacci Series

The next number is the sum of two previous numbers in this form of number series reasoning.

Alternating Series

Multiple number patterns are utilised alternately to build a series in this style of number series reasoning.

Mixed Operators Series

Multiple operators are used to get the next number in the series in this type of number series reasoning.

Arranging Number

Candidates must rearrange numbers as indicated and then answer the problems in this sort of number series reasoning.

Questions on Number Series

Q1. Find the missing number in the given series 3, 6, 11, 18, 27, ?, 51 (based on addition series).

The solution of the series follows:

3 + 3 = 6

6 + 5 = 11

11 + 7 = 18

18 + 9 = 27

27 +11 = 38

38 + 13 = 51

Hence, the correct answer is 38.

Q2. 50, 45, 40, 35, 30, ? (based on subtraction series)

The solution of the series is as follows:

50 – 5 = 45

45 – 5 = 40

40 – 5 = 35

35 – 5 = 30

30 – 5 = 25

Hence, the correct answer is 25.

Q3. Find the number 5, 11, 24.2, 53.24, ?, 257.6816 (based on multiplication series)

The solution of the series is as follows:

5 x 2.2 = 11

11 x 2.2 = 24.2

24.2 x 2.2 = 53.24

53.24 x 2.2 = 117.128

117.128 x 2.2 = 257.6816

Hence, the correct answer is 117.128.

Q4. Find the missing number 4096, 1024, 256, ?, 16, 4 (based on division series)

The solution of the series is as follows:

4096 / 4 = 1024

1024 / 4 = 256

256 / 4 = 64

64 / 4 = 16

16 / 4 = 4

Hence, the correct answer is 64.

Q5. Find the missing number in the given series 49, 121, 169, ?, 361 (based on square series)

The solution of the series is as follows:

7^ 2 = 49

11^ 2 = 121

13 ^ 2 = 169

17 ^ 2 = 289

19 ^ 2 = 361

Hence, the correct answer is 289.

Q6. Find the number 8, 64, 216, ?, 1000 (based on cube series).

The solution of the series is as follows:

2 ^ 3 = 8

4 ^ 3 = 64

6 ^ 3 = 216

8 ^ 3 = 512

10 ^ 3 = 1000

Hence, the correct answer is 512.

Q7. Find the number 12, 13, 25, 38, ?, 101, 164 (based on Fibonacci series)

The solution of the series is as follows:

12

13

25 = 12 + 13

38 = 13 + 25

63 = 25 + 38

101 = 38 + 63

164 = 101 + 63

Hence, the correct answer is 63.

Q8. Find the missing number in the given series 2, 29, 4, 25, 6, ?, 8, 17 (based on alternating series)

The solution of the series is as follows:

2 + 2 = 4

4 + 2 = 6

6 + 2  = 8

Similarly,

29 – 4 = 25

25 – 4  = 21

21 – 4 = 17

Hence, the correct answer is 21.

Q9. Find the missing number 5, 7, 21, 55, ?, 215 (based on mixed operator series)

The solution of the series is as follows:

5 + ( 2 ^ 2 – 2) = 7

7 + ( 4 ^ 2 – 2) = 2

21 + ( 6 ^ 2 – 2) = 55

55 + ( 8 ^ 2 – 2) = 117

117 +  ( 10 ^ 2 – 2) = 215

Hence, the correct answer is 117.

Q10. The position of how many digit(s) in the number 381576 will remain the same after the number is arranged in the ascending order?

Answer: 3 8 1 5 7 6 is the original number form.

1 3 5 6 7 8 is the ascending order form.

If we look at the numbers whose positions are the same in both versions, we can observe that only one number’s position is the same or unaffected the number is 7. Hence, the correct answer is One.

Conclusion

The number sequence is an important mathematical tool for evaluating someone’s IQ. In most management aptitude exams, number series issues are common. The term “number sequence” refers to a progression or an ordered list of numbers that follows a pattern or rule. Term refers to a group of numbers in a sequence. A finite sequence has a start and an end, whereas an infinite series runs indefinitely without ending.

One or two missing numbers and four or more visible terms are common in logic numerical issues. In this scenario, a test designer creates a sequence in which the number is the only one that fits. An individual’s numerical thinking capability can be sharpened by studying and exercising number sequences, which aids our daily activities such as calculating taxes, lending, and doing business. It is critical to study and practise number sequence in this scenario.

Solve to find the missing number 2 , 4 , 11 , 37 , ?

Answer: (2*1) + 2 =4 (4*2) + 3 = 11 ...Read full

Answer: Three consecutive numbers, 24, 28, and 32, are examined to find this sequence pattern, and the rule obtained. You can notice that the corresponding number is obtained by adding 4 to the preceding number.

The missing terms are therefore: 8 + 4 = 12 and 16 + 4 = 20

Answer: 12, 20, n, 36, 44,

Identify the pattern of the sequence by finding the difference between two consecutive terms.

44 – 36 = 8 and 20 – 12 = 8.

The pattern of the sequence is, therefore, the addition of 8 to the preceding term.

So, n = 20 + 8 = 28.

Answer: Each term in the above series is combination of squares of 2 numbers i.e.

22 32 , 42 52 , 62 72 . So, our answer will be 6481.

Answer: Each number is repeated or firstly 0 is added to each number and then 14 is subtracted from it. Hence, the correct answer is 12.

Answer: (2*1) + 2 =4

(4*2) + 3 = 11

(11*3) + 4 =37

(37*4) + 5 = 153

Hence, the missing number is 153.

A posterior probability, in Bayesian records, is the revised or updated probability of an event happening after taking into account new records. The posterior probability is calculated by updating the prior probability by using Bayes’ theorem. In statistical phrases, the posterior probability is the probability of event A taking place given that event B has taken place.
