Reasoning is a test of your mental skills, like how well you can make decisions or how well you can look at different things. Reasoning helps you think in a logical way, which will help you make decisions quickly and well. The image of water is what you get when you turn the object upside down. The top and bottom of the image will change, but the sides on the left and right will stay the same. In the Mirror image, the left and right sides switched places, but the top and bottom stayed the same .
Types of Mirror Image Questions
Based on Vertical Mirror
In these questions, a vertical mirror is placed to the left or right of the object. This creates a standard form of mirror image in which the left and right sides of the object switch places while the top and bottom stay the same .
Example : Choose the option which is most closely the mirror image of the given figure.
Solution: [e]
Based on Horizontal Mirror
In these questions, a horizontal mirror is placed at the top or bottom of the object, and the image that is made is like the image of water. In this kind of question, the LHS and RHS stay the same .
Example : Choose the correct mirror image from the answer figures (a), (b), (c) and (d).
Solution: (c)
Mirror Image of Letters and Numbers
In this type of question, candidates are given a number, a letter, or a combination of letters and/or numbers and asked to find their mirror images among the options given .
Example : Choose the alternative which most closely resembles the mirror image of the given combination.
Solution: (c)
Mirror Image of Clocks
In this type of question, the candidate has to figure out where the hour hand and minute hand of a clock should be based on where they are in a mirror. We have to find the real time on the clock based on the time shown by the clock’s mirror image. The examples below will help you get a better grasp of the idea .
Example : A clock when seen through a mirror is showing quarter to three. What is the accurate time as indicated by the clock on the wall?
8 : 15 (b) 9 : 12 (c) 8 : 17 (d) 9 : 15
Solution: (d)
Types of Water Image Questions
On the basis of water images, there are two types of questions to consider,
Water Image of Figure/Symbol/Sign
In this type of question, candidates are asked to find the water image of a symbol, signs, or figure that has both symbols and signs or any other pattern. The examples below will give you a better idea of what kinds of questions are asked on tests.
Example 1:
Find the water image of the object depicted in the question figure identified by (A), among the figures depicted in the answer choices (a), (b), (c), and (d), as indicated in the question figure.
Solution: (b)
Example 2:
Find the water image of the object depicted in the question figure identified by (A), among the figures depicted in the answer choices (a), (b), (c), and (d), as indicated in the question figure.
Solution: (d)
Water Image of Letters and Numbers
The candidates have to learn how letters and numbers look in water and then use that knowledge to solve problems about water images of letters and numbers .
Water Image of Capital Letters
The letters which have water images identical to the original letter are – C, D, E, H, I, O, X
Water Image of Small Letters
The letters c, I o, and x are the only ones that have water representations that are identical to the original letter.
Water Image of Digits
The digits 0, 3, and 8 are represented by water visuals that are comparable to the original numbers.
Example 1: In each of the following questions, find the water image of the set of letters and/or digits given in the question figure out of the four answer choices (1), (2), (3) and (4).
Solution: option 4.
Example 2: In each of the following questions, find the water image of the set of letters and/or digits given in the question figure out of the four answer choices (1), (2), (3) and (4).
Solution: option 2.
Conclusion
The image of an object in water is called a “Water Image.” It is the image that you get when you turn the object upside down and look at it from above. When the mirror is placed horizontally at the bottom of the question figure, it looks like the water image of the figure. A mirror reflection or mirror image is what you see when you look at an object in a mirror. In this kind of picture, the right side of the object is on the left and the left side is on the right. Because of this, a mirror image is said to be lateral inverted, and the lateral inversion is the name of the process .
