In every organisation and business platform, the reports have an extraordinary impact on every company’s decision and action. The employees have the responsibility of preparing specific reports for explaining the situation with informative research, which includes facts, ideas, and statistics. Presently many report writing types are in practice with unique characteristics and informative content. The report defines the data with statistics, facts, appraisals, and much organisational information that can affect its functioning. 

Kind of reports: explanation

There are many kinds of reports functional for managing the data record and conveying the crux of the research for a specific purpose. These reports convey the research analysis with a conclusive note on the research. Any report must be well-described and cover all the relative aspects of the report type. Here is the description regarding variable types of reports included in any organisation’s purpose to study and understand any specific aspect and ideas. Below are the mentions:

  • Internal and external reports:

Internal reports are exclusive of the organisation and are distributed within the organisation. These are unique report writing types. It is prepared with organisational information, regulation, and statistical information for a specific assessment. The external reports are for publishing of the public announcements, newsletters, and reports for distribution in other organisations. The external reports can be invited for interest of investment, business and other relative aspects.

  • Vertical and lateral reports

The vertical reports have the information and data which is distributed to the hierarchy level, and sometimes reports come to the lower team from higher officials. This information can be the appraisal, creative ideas, suggestions or the analytical report of the company. The lateral report writing types are department-level reports which are useful in departmental geography. The accounting reports, statistical graphs, financial comparison, and investment ventures reports are typical examples of lateral reports. 

 

  • Long and short reports:

These report writing types are based on length based characterisation. The short reports have around two or five-pages of the memorandum and are types of informal reports. The lengthy reports have around thirty to fifty pages of information. The lengthy reports generally have a formal style for the report making.

  • Periodic reports:

The periodic reports are the kinds of reports prepared at constant intervals regularly. Such reports include the business activities and company performance. The natures of periodic reports are generally vertical and have federal, non-profitable, corporate information. The sales reports, specific incident reports, progress reports, and feasibility reports are typical examples of periodic reports. 

  • Informational and analytical reports:

Scientific research, financial reports and employee appraisals are some analytical reports. Analytical reports include the issues and problems, with certain demands for feasible solutions. The informational report writing types carry the observational area of information regarding the organisational system. This information may be regarding the financial performance on a monthly and annual basis.

  • Proposal reports:

The proposal reports are the solution reports which include suggestions and ideas for problem-solving. The proposal reports are generally solution-oriented and are about what report writing and its types with the solutions for organisations is.

  • Formal and informal reports:

Formal reports are carefully structured and detailed as per the information and data. The formal reports have a particular writing style and detailed information in categorical methods. The informal reports have short and sleek information in an organic format. The language is natural in any kind of informal report. The informal reports have the general organisational data circulated in the organisation’s internal area. There are many types of informal reports constantly active in organisational functioning.

  • Functional reports:

 These reports covers the spectrum of preparing the marketing report, financial and accounting reports. It follows the functional body of any department of the organisation and prepares the reports according to it.

Digital involvement in report writing:

These report writing types are the basic writing types that help in the fast preparation of reports and accessing the data quickly with the help of technology. The technology involved in report writing includes many tools, and these report writing tools work on an organisational level. Here are some of the technological tools for report making:

  • Social media report:

Social media tracking can manage the daily data. It is a top-rated tool for report making and data management. Today, the companies appoint various social media managers who track the records and maintain the report of the activities and analytics. Many social media platforms have a significant part in the company performance and market position. 

  • Google analytics:

As the largest search engine, Google helps to track the substantial analytical data and statistics for management and tracking. Organisation management often takes help from these tools to maintain the financial accounting data, annual appraisal and inventory report preparations. What is report writing and its types mentions this tool, which manages to streamline and prepare the report fast as per the available data.

Conclusion:

There are different kinds of reports and their functioning areas depending on their purposes. The report making in any company needs proper documentation and discussion. The report contains information and a medium of circulating the information. These reports are the permanent part of company events, audits, and financial year closing. Presently, many types of digital involvements have become integral part of different kinds of report making. The technology provides data accuracy and a limited time frame to make long reports.
