What are some applications of Kohlrausch law?

Ans: The application of Kohlrausch law are:

  • Kohlrausch’s law determines the total molar concentration for weak electrolytes. Acetic Acid is an electrolyte that has very low dissociation at higher concentrations because it is a weak electrolyte. Since the molar conductivity of weak electrolytes can’t be determined experimentally at infinite dilution, Kohlrausch’s law should be applied.
  • Salts that are sparingly soluble are those that do not dissolve well in water, such as AgCl. They have the same concentration and solubility since they are not fully dissolved. Kohlrausch’s law can be used to determine their solubility.
  • Kohlrausch’s law can be used to determine a weak electrolyte’s degree of ionisation regardless of concentration.
  • We can determine the limiting molar conductivity of an electrolyte using the Kohlrausch law.
