1. The West Bengal population, according to the 2011 Census, holds a total of 9.13 crores; 91,276,115, to be more precise. Out of this, there are a total of 46,809,027males, while the females hold 38,710,212 of the total population.
2. There has been a growth of 13.84% this decade, while it was 17.84% this decade.  The population of West Bengal comprises about 7.54% of the entire population of the country.
3. As per the West Bengal census data, 89.28% of the houses are owned, while 7.33% of them are rented.  
4. There are about 950 females per 1000 males, in contrast to 934 of them according to the 2001 census.

6. The total population of male children between the age of 0-and 6 years holds at 5,410,396, while that of female children at 5,171,070.
7. The total population of children was found to be 10,581,466.
8. The literacy rate of the state was about 76.26 %.
9. West Bengal holds a fairly high population density of about 1,028 people per square km, in contrast to 903 people per square km in 2001.

Population density of West Bengal:

The population density stands for the number of people living per square kilometer or could be said to be the number of people living per unit area. It differs state-wise. In an analysis carried out by Hindustan Times, the states of West Bengal and Bihar are two of the states that have crossed the 1000 mark in terms of persons per square km area. It also claimed that West Bengal is even more populous than countries like Bangladesh. The primary census abstract of 2011 stated that Bihar had a population density of 1,106 people per square km, with west Bengal standing at 1,028.

Hinduism is the major religion in West Bengal. It is followed by Islam, where approximately 27.01%.  After independence, the Muslim population migrated to Pakistan. Later, they demanded another nation for themselves; thus, another nation called Bangladesh was formed.
