Many principles are followed even today, although not in original or purest form, or after understanding the logic behind it. So let us find out Some extremely important issues addressed in this lesson are : The four castes : The four sections of the society (classes) The four ‘Ashramas’ : The four stages of life The four ‘Purusharthas’ : The four ideal aims of life Types of marriages : We know only one or two types of marriages today. But during the Vedic period, as many as eight kinds of marriage were practiced. We will talk about these here. We will also see what social status the women of that era had. So this will be one of the most important lessons of this series.
