The American War of Independence inaugurated the age of revolutions and set an example before the world to fight against unjust colonial governments for just rights. The revolution adopted the Declaration of Independence whereby the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness was recognised as universal rights. The revolution also marked a turning point in world history by influencing the European world at large.
