Lesson 13 of 17 • 9 upvotes • 14:58mins
The post-Mauryan period is a poorly documented one with a series of foreign invasions in succession. As the Maurya Empire weakened after Ashoka, the Bactrian Greeks moved on the western domains of the erstwhile great empire and established the Indo-Greek hegemony. They were followed by Shakas, Parthians, Sassanians and Kushans. In India, Mauryans were replaced by the Shungas, succeeded by the Kanvas and Satavahanas. We will be able to discuss all their dynasties and their important kings, barring the Kushans, whom we will talk about in the next lesson.
