Important Terminologies to understand Physical Quantity: A physical quantity is any physical property of a body that can be quantified i.e that can be measured in numbers Eg. mass is measured in terms of Kg:s Types of Physical Quantities Depending upon if a physical quantity has direction or not these are divided into 1. Scalar Quantities: Scalar quantities only have value & no direction. Eg. Temperature of a body is 100 degree celsius 2. Vector Quantities : Vector quantities do have values (magnitude) along with direction Eg. Velocity of a body in North direction is 100 metres per second

Important Terminologies to understand Speed: Speed is the distance travelled by a body per unit time Eg. A person is travelling to his college riding the bike with a speed of 50 kms/hour i.e his bike will cover 50 kms(distance travelled) in 1 hour (time) Velocity: Velocity is the distance travelled by a body per unit time in a particular direction Eg. A boy travelled in North direction 10 kms in 10 hours then his velocity will be 10 km-1km /hour in North direction 10 hours

Important Terminologies to understand Acceleration : Vector quantity , denoted by (a), SI unit - m/sec sq 1. Acceleration is the term used when velocity of an object changes 2. It is measured as rate of change of velocity in unit time Eg.When a boy started (initially the boy was at rest) running from starting point attains a velocity of 1.5 metres (distance) in 10s 1 second (time) then acceleration gained(as the speed is increased from zero) by the boy final velocity (v) - Initial Velocity (u)-rate of change of vel Time taken time a 1.5 metres per secs/10 secs 0.15 metres per secs sq
