This lesson begins with the explanation of the occurrence of coal: Gondwana coalfields and Tertiary coalfields. Gondwanan coalfields have been discussed in the previous lesson and this one throws light on tertiary coalfield. It talks about the presence of coalfield in regions like Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh. Thereby Bhumika discusses ​Lignite & Peat reserves and its presence in various regions in India. Various maps have been used for easy depiction of the Coalfields, Lignite and Peat reserves throughout the country. She also discusses ​the Problems of Coal mining and Conservation of Coal.
