Augmenting Nature By Green Affordable New Habitat

The ANGAN International Conference, which was organised by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, Government of India, in collaboration with GIZ, successfully spread the message that Energy Conservation is the foundation for Energy Independence/ Energy saved is energy generated. The conference aims to provide a forum for discussion on organisational interdependence, systemic sustainability, and resource efficiency feedback loops. It also intends to reduce the cost of improving efficiency in high-energy-consumption areas. ANGAN

The conference will cover a variety of alternative options and technologies in energy-efficient commercial and residential building design and construction. It will recommend effective strategies and programmes for executing the given proposals and concepts. The construction and building energy efficiency efforts are expected to cost Rs.2000 billion. The proposal’s adoption would save 388 billion units of power over the following 10 years, with a payback time of around two years.

As we all know, time isn’t the most important factor; time is the most important factor. Therefore the best we can do is converse and conserve. In September, the three-day International Conference was held at The Lalit Hotel in New Delhi, with over 1000 attendees from India and over 100 green national and international experts in attendance.

Low-carbon future New Habitats

Following the Paris Agreement, India committed to a low-carbon future, promising to usher in a revolution with green building development, passive house design, zero-energy vision, the new habitats and low-carbon activities in the next years. As a result, a platform for concentrated conversation with specific case studies and wiser and more efficient building techniques served as a vehicle for information transfer.

In the middle of the heated arguments and discussions, the event’s climax – a cultural night based on Indian heritage – was held to rekindle the spirit of the occasion.

This international conference, the first of its kind, is a stepping stone toward a revolution that will change the built environment in India. ANGAN 2019 made a good first impression. The overwhelmingly positive reaction from all participants motivated us to return—ANGAN 2021–to involve more and more professionals who can be true change agents.

The Bureau of Energy Efficiency’s vision for India’s construction sector contains several milestones. Such a platform has aided in speeding up development and activities toward the ultimate aim of an energy-efficient India.
