Indo-Nepal Border
- Being 1751 km open border is a challenge for both countries to manage. Illegal and anti-national activities are carried out by terrorists and criminals. So, there is a great need to improve border security.Â
- An institutionalised mechanism of Secretary level talks and a joint working group at the level of joint secretaries are set up by the governments of both countries to FastTrack bilateral dialogue on issues of mutual concern regarding border management.
- These channels provide an important platform for addressing issues of common concern at national, regional, and local levels, such as preventing cross-border crime, trafficking, and situations arising from terrorist campaigns. Â

Indo-Bhutan BorderÂ
- India shares a 699 km long border with Bhutan, and Sashatra Seema Bal (SSB) has been given the responsibility to guard the border.Â
- A bilateral mechanism in the form of a secretary-level India-Bhutan group on Border Management and Security has proven to be very effective in exploring the threat perceptions for both countries due to open borders and enhancing the security measures accordingly.
