Introduction

The E-prisons project, launched by the Ministry of Home Affairs, aims to computerise the functioning of all prisons in the country, including the digitisation and availability of prisoner data (convicts, undertrial prisoners, detainees, and so on) in an electronic platform accessible to designated authorities of the Central and State Governments. 

• E-prisons are beneficial for developing a consolidated standard information database of prison inmates, including their identification, activity, and other vital details. 
• This is a cloud-based national platform that serves as an interactive portal for inmates to access information and services.
