The NTA (National Testing Agency) is the governing body that conducts the Joint Entrance Examination or JEE. The JEE is a competitive entrance examination that is held to secure admission to India’s elite Engineering, and Architecture & Planning institutes. It comprises two separate examinations, i.e. the JEE Main Examination and the JEE Advanced Examination. While the former is held for admission to the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and other central-aided engineering colleges across India, the latter is conducted exclusively for admission to the prestigious Indian Institute of Technologies (IITs).
The JEE Main exam conducted on 6th September 2020 took place in two shifts i.e. Morning and Evening. The JEE Main 2020 September 06 Second Shift exam took place from 3 PM to 6 PM. The paper consisted of 75 questions. There were 25 questions each in the Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry sections. Every section consisted of 20 multiple choice questions and 5 numerical value-based questions.
Most candidates who wrote the paper found the Chemistry section relatively easier than the other two. The questions were from topics such as Coordination Compound, Physical Chemistry, Chemical Bonding, and Organic Chemistry, etc. The questions were theory-based and simple. The difficulty level of the Physics section was moderate to difficult. Questions were asked from different topics such as Modern Physics, Optics, Thermodynamics, Heat, Magnetism, Electrostatic, etc. The Mathematics section was difficult in comparison to the other sections. The questions came from Complex Numbers, Coordinate Geometry, Algebra, Calculus, 3D Geometry, Matrices, etc. The questions were lengthy.
The difficulty level of the JEE exam varies every year. Hence, it is essential for students to have thorough knowledge and practice of all three sections. Unacademy has provided all the previous years’ JEE question papers on its website. Students can easily download these question papers and solve them. The solutions have also been given for reference.
