Every year, the National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main for admission to technical courses at NITs, IIITs, and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) in the country. The exam also serves as an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is held for admission to the prestigious IITs. Held twice a year since 2019, JEE Main consists of 2 papers. Paper 1 is for admission into B.E and B.Tech. Programmes and Paper 2 for admission into B. Architecture and B. Planning Programmes. In 2017, JEE Main was held from 2 April to 9 April.
