LLM Full Form

LLM is a postgraduate degree in law that could be done after completion of bachelor's degree in law background from a specified university.

Generally, the course duration of LLM is 2 years but some of the universities are now facilitating the LLM degree in 1 year. Completing the LLB that is a bachelor in law, a student could pursue their LLM degree. LLB has a course duration of 3 years and 5 years both. Candidates who have completed their bachelor’s degree in a subject other than law; those students are eligible to do a 3 years LLB course. Apart from that, some students who are intending to take admission in LLB after 12 standards, and then they should take their admission in 5 years LLB course. LLM could be stated as a postgraduate degree in law. Some people desire to complete their master of law in 1 year so that they are able to find a job or settle in their professional career with less time in hand. Some universities and law schools are providing 2-year courses where the subjects are learned in detail. Some internships would also be conducted by such respected universities and students could get a chance to learn and gain knowledge in detail.     

Applicability of LLM in law background 

In the background of law, there is a lot of applicability of LLM that could be identified. Especially in the field of research and legal writing, LLM played a significant role and it could enhance the research quality and efficiency. A minimum percentage is needed to take admission in LLM under a university or a law school. Candidates should secure approximately 55% of their marks in their graduation and they are able to get admission in this course. The Latin phrase Legum Magister directly indicates the master of laws. In the teaching profession, an LLM degree is compulsory under every law school or college or university to play the role of teacher or professor. In case any students want to study in this law field then they must do this course as without a LLM degree they could not pursue higher study. After LLB, LLM is one course that could reach them in a proper designation and be able to earn more money as well as knowledge and frame.

LLM online might not be available under every university rather in the country and in distance or part-time LLM is commonly available in the majority of the university. Taking admission in LLM degree course, a student must complete their bachelor’s degree in law from 3 years LLB or 5 years BA, BSc, BBA LLB with approximately 50% to 60% marks. Admission under a reputed and popular university to pursue LLM, students must crack DUET, CET, IPU, LSAT, CLAT etc. This could be ascertained as a designated degree course.
