TBC Full Form

This article will highlight the full form of TBC along with its definition and importance and need.

TBC stands for To Be Confirmed in ICC cricket world cup which denotes that it is a Scorecard that is still not confirmed as it is yet to be confirmed by the ICC.

The full form of TBC also means that the scorecard was submitted in the world cup only after its submission date, which means it was being submitted before the world cup cricket started. So hence TBC stands for the submitted date (before) and the end date (after)..

Definition:

TBC scorecard can be defined as a scorecard with an expected score and has not been confirmed yet.

Outstanding scores will be cut off from the scorecard after the occurrence of the event.

The first use of the TCCI scorecard was in 2007, when India entered the ICC world cup 2007 with a scorecard of 266/6 at the end of the last day against Bangladesh. It was then adopted as TBC.

The reason being that the date on which a scorecard sent to ICC by that team is not confirmed by ICC till the end date as explained above. This can be further defined by saying that this score is still pending confirmation and thus it is an outstanding score which was submitted before the end date.

Importance of To Be Confirmed:

It is this fact that gives a lot of importance to the TBC scorecard. This is because the team doesn’t get an opportunity to win their first world cup. But if its score card was confirmed then they would have won the first ever ICC world cup.

Also it is a proof of war like tactics adopted by the team. A TBC scorecard shows the level of intensity and motivation of the team to win the world cup.

Examples:

1- TBC scorecard was submitted by Afghanistan for ICC world cup 2015 against Australia in which their scorecard was 7/ 250. This means that their score before the end date (after) is still pending confirmation by ICC. So if this hadn’t been submitted then Afghanistan would have won in 2015, instead they lost and had to wait for another 4 years to win the world cup again in 2017.

2- The TBC scorecard was submitted by Ireland vs South Africa . The game ended in a tie. So their score after the end date (before) is pending confirmation. But if that score was confirmed then the match would have ended in a win which would have guaranteed them a place in the first world cup.

3- TBC scorecard was submitted by Eng vs AUS . This was the league final of ICC world cup 2015 . The score after the end date (after) is still pending confirmation as it was submitted before the end date of world cup 2015 . If it had been submitted then England would have won the league and ensured themselves for the first time to enter into ICC world cup 2016.

Need for To Be Confirmed:

It will help in knowing whether the score card has been accepted or rejected by ICC or not. It also gives information about whether there is any doubt on the scorecard as it was submitted before the end date or it was submitted on the end date itself and if so then what is its status?

It is a very entertaining and informative fact that world cup is the biggest event which brings cricket to its peak . It is only because of the word To Be Confirmed as we are always eager to know what happens next.

Even if a team with To Be Confirmed scorecard wins the world cup then it will be known for generations for its war-like approach in such a tournament.

Significance of To Be Confirmed in ICC World Cup:

In the world cup history TBC scorecards were always significant and played an important part in the world cup history. The fact that it was an outstanding score and still pending its confirmation by ICC, despite being submitted before the end date of the world cup showed its significance.

In the case of Afghanistan vs Australia 2007 , the fact that their scorecard was not confirmed till after the end date, shows that this team had a warlike approach like the situation in the world cup. It also shows their level of aggression towards other teams and their pre-planning to win it all. In case if it had not been submitted then Afghanistan would have become champion at first attempt only from 2009 and forever after that.

Conclusion:

The TBC scorecard is one of the important things that can be seen during the course of the ICC world cup. It decides the position of the team. So, it is very important to follow the TBC scorecard to watch how a team is doing and where they stand during the course of world cup cricket.
