The Ministry of Civil Aviation has asked the Ministry of Finance to postpone the rollout of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) from July 1 to September 1 as some domestic airlines, including national carrier Air India, have expressed their inability to switch to a new tax regime soon NCP of J&K says that if GST is implemented in its present form, it will take awa Jammu & Kashmir's fiscal autonomy and impinge on Article 370. They say, 'if the 101st amendment was incorporated in the J&K Constitution in toto then Section 5, which ives the State special right to tax on services and sales, will be superseded by 246A of e Central amendment. J&K has not adopted any central constitutional amendment since 1977. . Amid growing protests over farm sector distress, the Cabinet has approved the extension of the interest subvention scheme for farmers to 2017-18. Short-term crop loans up to 3 lakh will receive a subvention of 5%, effectively reducing the rate for farmer to 4%. "Farmers will thus have to effectively pay only4% as interest." . The interest subvention scheme will continue for one year and will be implemented by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) nd the Reserve Bank of India.

In a bid to offer affordable educational opportunities to weaving co the Ministry of Textiles (MoT) will subsidise the education of all weavers enrolled in the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). . The MoT will reimburse 75 per cent of the education costs to the NIOS, which means the weaver needs to pay only one-fourth of the normal fee. For women and members of Scheduled Caste communities who are weavers, the NIOS will waive the remaining 25 per cent as well, thereby enabling them to study and get a certificate free of cost. . The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the introduction of The Financial Resolution and Deposit Insurance Bill 2017' to resolve bankruptcy cases affecting financial sector entities, including banks and insurance companies When enacted, it will have a provision for the setting up of a Resolution Corporation, and would also see the repealing or amendment of several resolution related provisions in Acts pertaining to the particular Sectors. It aims to limit the use of public money to bail out distressed firms during a financial crisis to resolve bankruptcy cases . The Act would repeal Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation Act, 1961 . 15 more days for the GST Roll out. Registration number- Under the current tax system, a service company with multiple offices across India needs to take one service registration number. However, under the GST system, it will be required to get registrations done in each state where it has operations.
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has imposed a penalty of 287 crore on Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) for 'anti-competitive conduct.'The CCI found HMIL to be in contravention of the provisions of the Competition Act, 2002, for imposing arrangements upon its dealers which resulted into Resale Price Maintenance (RPM) in sale of passenger cars manufactured by it. . RPM- Discount Control Mechanism through which dealers are only permitted to provide a maximum permissible discount and the dealers are not authorised to give discount which is abovethe recommended range. . The Reserve Bank of India has p ut state-run lender, Central Bank of India, under prompt corrective action (PCA) due to a sharp increase in bad loans. The net NPA ratio of the lender was 10.2% as on March end, which breached the second risk threshold of 9%. . The Centre has amended the Cenvat credit rules allowing service providersrelyingon natural resources like telecom spectrum to avail of all pending Cenvat credit on the day of the rollout of the GST The amendment would enable service recipients to carry forwardsuch unavailed credit of service tax under the GST regime.
