  2. Introduction . The Union Government has launched SECURE Himalaya Project. It is a six-year project to ensure conservation of locally and globally significant biodiversity , land and forest resources in high Himalayan ecosystem It was launched by Union Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC) in association with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) evelopment Programme (UNDP


  3. SECURE Securing livelihoods, conservation, sustainable use and restoration of high range Himalayan ecosystems - is meant for specific landscapes. Conserving snow leopards by protecting their habitats. Improving ecology of Himalayan ranges and lives of Mountain communities all among worst victims of climate change.

  5. Focus Protectiai of snow leopard and other endangered species and their habitats and also securing livelihoods of people in region ad enhancing enforcement to reduce wildlife crime. Undor enhanced enforcement efforts and monitoring will be undertaken to curb illegal trade in some medicinal and aromatic plants which are among most threatened species in these landscapes.

Snow Leopard Snow leopards are rarely sighted cats that live in the peaks of central Asia (including Himalayas and Russia's Altai mountains) Their coats change with seasons They develop a thick white fur in the winters to keep them warm and yellow grey coat in summers.
