INDIAN INDEPENDENCE ACT .Empowered the Constituent Assemblies to frame and adopt a constitution for their respective nations. to repeal any act of the British Parliament To legislate for their territories till the new constitutions were adopted Lapse of British Paramountcy over Indian Princely States, which now had to join India or Pakistan or remain independent


  10. INDIAN INDEPENDENCE ACT Till the new Constitutions were framed, governance would be under Government of India Act 1935 . This could be modified by the two dominions British monarch no longer had any authority over the bills passed by the two new states Governor General of India was designated as the constitutional head of India . Provincial Governors were designated the constitutional heads of states m at m sea . Both were to act on the advice of the council of ministers
