Apr 16: The International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Washington-based investment arm of the World Bank, has invested Rs 200 crore (approximately $ 75.8 billion) in the Government of India owned Punjab National Bank Housing Finance Ltd (PNB Housing Finance) to aid the home loan lender fund eco-friendly housing projects. IFC has subscribed to the Rs 200 crore green bonds issued by PNB Housing Finance in the current quarter. PNB would use the funds to finance the affordable and green housing projects in the country. The project will also go a long way in creating additional jobs in rural India. IFC’s latest round of investment in PNB Housing Finance Ltd has a spicy touch to it as the World Bank arm shelled out the money it raised by floating its first green `Masala Bonds’ aggregating to $ 3 billion in august last. `Masala Bonds, which have yet catch the fancy of corporate India due to short-term interest rate differentials and Forex fluctuations refers to raising rupee denominated debt instruments from
